Senior Software Engineer, Search Ads

We are the engineering team behind the Bing Search Ads and the emerging Copilot Search Ads platform. We serve billions of ad impressions daily and process terabytes of real-time signals to help advertisers reach global audiences. As a senior engineer in our team, you will:

• Design and build high-scale low latency systems used globally every day and ensure their high reliability, security and performance
• Shape brand new ad products for Search, Copilot and MSN in the AI-first world in collaboration with product, applied science and platform teams

Starting January 26, 2026, Microsoft AI (MAI) employees who live within a 50- mile commute of a designated Microsoft office in the U.S. or 25-mile commute of a non-U.S., country-specific location are expected to work from the office at least four days per week. • Build and evolve high-scale production systems powering ads in Search, Copilot and other publishers.
• Design, maintain and optimize low-latency, high-availability services that serve ads in milliseconds.
• Collaborate with product, applied science, and platform teams to launch new ad formats and experiences.
• Improve system architecture, reliability, cost efficiency, and observability across global deployments.

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 4+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python
  • OR equivalent experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Master's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 6+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python
  • OR Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 8+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python
  • OR equivalent experience.
• 1+ year of DRI/Oncall experience.
• Experience building high QPS low latency distributed systems.
• Solid collaboration skills, working effectively with cross-functional teams.
