Job Description

The Trulaske College of Business has immediate openings for 2 Sr. Academic Advisors to advise students with interest in the Trulaske College of Business regarding issues such as degree requirements, choosing a major, probationary concern, course registration and other concerns.

Responsibilities for the positions vary.

Position 1:
Advise undergraduate business students
* Track progress for applying to the upper level
* Check graduation requirements
* Counsel on career preparation
* Academic advising
* Advise students regarding students' schedule
* Work with probation/academic actions
* Maintain communication with advisees
* Evaluate transcripts
* Referrals
* Transitional Advising

Direct Peer Advising and Student Success Initiatives
* Direct all aspects of the Academic Peer Advising Program.
* Lead the recruitment, hiring, onboarding, scheduling, supervision, and ongoing training and professional development of Peer Advisors.
* Develop and assess peer advising services to ensure consistent, high-quality support for students.
* Coordinate student success initiatives in collaboration with advising staff and campus partners.
* Develop and implement targeted outreach, interventions, and programming for Advising Group 4 students, the college's highest-risk student population.
* Lead the development and implementation of parallel planning initiatives and programming for "Murky Middle" students to support informed academic decision-making and successful progression to upper-level admission.
* Serve as the College of Business liaison for Tiger Pathways, coordinating communication, programming, and referrals with campus partners.
* Coordinate outreach efforts for non-enrolled students to improve retention and re-enrollment outcomes.
* Lead the college's participation in the campus-wide Recruit Back/Finish Line initiative for former business students seeking degree completion.
* Assess program effectiveness using student success and retention data and recommend continuous improvements to peer advising and student success initiatives.

Manage the Academic Actions program for the college.
* Lead a team of advisors who conduct a review of students on dismissal and probation status each semester
* Draft and send timely communications to students and their advisors regarding academic standing
* Coordinate with the University Registrar's Office to ensure accuracy of student academic standing reports and complete analysis of that information.
* Manage all aspects of the academic recovery program for students who are on academic probation to support their future academic success

Other Duties as Assigned
* Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Undergraduate Advising

Position 2:
Advise Undergraduate Business Students - Provide comprehensive academic advising to undergraduate business students regarding degree planning, academic policies, and student success.
* Academic advising and degree planning
* Track progress toward upper-level admission
* Review graduation requirements
* Advise on course selection and registration
* Counsel students on academic success and career preparation
* Evaluate transfer and test credit
* Maintain communication with assigned advisees
* Make referrals to campus resources
* Provide transitional advising
* Support students experiencing academic challenges

Coordinate Certificate and Minor Programs - Provide leadership for the administration of the College of Business certificate and minor programs serving students across the university.
* Process certificate and minor declarations
* Complete graduation clearance for certificate and minor students
* Manage shared certificate and minor program email inboxes
* Serve as the primary contact for students, faculty, advisors, and staff regarding certificate and minor requirements, policies, and procedures
* Coordinate with academic departments and campus partners to ensure accurate and efficient program administration
* Monitor enrollment, maintain program records, and recommend process improvements to enhance service and operational efficiency

Coordinate Undergraduate Advising Communications - Lead the development and maintenance of advising communications to ensure accurate, consistent, and accessible information.
* Maintain and update the Undergraduate Advising Office website
* Coordinate updates to advising handbooks, forms, guides, and other print and digital resources
* Develop and maintain internal and external communications for students, faculty, and staff
* Ensure advising materials reflect current university and college policies and procedures
* Support communication initiatives that promote student success and office operations

Supervise Student Employees - Provide leadership and oversight for Undergraduate Advising Office work-study students in collaboration with the Student Support Specialist.
* Assist with recruiting, hiring, onboarding, and training student employees
* Supervise daily work assignments and office responsibilities
* Monitor performance and provide coaching and feedback
* Support front-line office operations and customer service

Other Duties as Assigned
* Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Undergraduate Advising.

Shift

8am - 5pm, Monday - Friday, occasional evening and weekends

Minimum Qualifications

A Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience and at least 2 years of experience from which comparable knowledge and skills can be acquired is necessary.

Preferred Qualifications

* Master's degree or bachelor's degree with equivalent combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge and abilities can be acquired.
* Prefer experience 1-2 years working in higher education serving as an advisor to students. Knowledge of academic policies and student affairs is also beneficial

Anticipated Hiring Range

Salary Range: $45,968.00 - $59,374.00 per year
