What to Expect
The MetrologyEngineering Technician will work as atechnicalsupport memberinthedimensionalengineeringgroupfor measurement tasks. The successful candidate will workwith different metrology equipment to program and/or run programs for part level sub-assemblies as dictated by the dimensional control plan or diagnostic request from engineering. There may be occasional work on the production floor withportable metrology equipment measuring parts on a car, part scans alone, tooling fixtures, material handling tooling etc.It is fundamental that the candidate hasprior experiencewith interpreting GD&T part drawingsandability tocreate measurementprogramsfrom scratchon metrology software.

What You'll Do
  • Create, editor run measurement programs for different partsub-assembliesfor the Cybertruck, MY andCybercabvehicles
  • Trainand workwiththe newesttechnology available.ThisincludesAutomation Scanning systems,CMMs, Laser Trackers, Romer Arms, ScanBox and Nikon Laser radar systems
  • Perform Gage Repeatability and Reproducibility (GRR) studies to evaluate measurement methods
  • Practice5Scyclical methodology(sort, set in order, shine, standardize,andsustain) to drive continuous improvement in the lab workspace
  • Collaborate with Engineering groups for fixture design and measurement strategies.Reviewpart point clouds and provide reports with Tesla specific formatrequiredfor reporting

What You'll Bring
  • 1-yearminimum experience in a technical metrology roleor equivalent experience
  • Experience with at least onemetrologyvisionsoftware (Polyworks/Zeiss Inspect/PC-DIMS/Metrolog X4)is required, multiple is highly preferred
  • Experience workingLeicalaser tracker/AS1 scanners/Scanbox is an asset
  • Experience working from point cloud creation to report building with CM4D isan asset
  • Ability to develop measurement programsandrunnecessaryR&Rreports to determineaccuracy of data from program and fixtures
Essential Physical Demands
  • Ability to perform physically demanding work for extended periods of time, up to 12 hours a day
  • Ability to stand and walk for up to 12 hours a day, including over varied and uneven terrain
  • Frequently and repetitively, lift, push and carry up to 35 lbs., including the ability to carry 20 lbs. up and down stairs
  • Frequently and repetitively, bend, lift and reach to install parts
  • Stoop, lay, bend, reach, squat, kneel, crouch, twist and crawl for extended periods of time, including up to 12 hours a day
  • Climb and maintain balance on ladders, scaffolding or other high structures
  • Ability to find issues in a work process and receive safety signals using sight, touch, and hearing
  • Wearing Personal Protective Equipment, including but not limited to: hard hat, safety glasses, safety shoes, reflective vest, and adhering to prescribed safety rules and guidelines
