SUMMARY: WR has an opportunity for a GIS Software Engineer, Basic to support the design and development of geospatial/geographic information systems (GIS) using advanced programming languages.


Position responsibilities will include, but are not limited to the following:


  • Designs and develops geospatial-based software with an emphasis on:

    • Graphical User Interfaces (GUIs)
    • Backend logic and databases


  • Supports the development, integration, testing, and troubleshooting of GIS software applications.
  • Conducts software debugging and performance tuning to improve application functionality and performance.



Candidates must possess the following knowledge, skills, and experience:


  • Bachelor of Science degree, conferred or currently in the final year of a program, in Computer/Software Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics, or a related scientific discipline.
  • Three (3)+ years of relevant software development experience.
  • Strong understanding of advanced programming concepts, including:

    • Object-oriented programming
    • Design patterns
    • Multi-threading
    • Inter-process communication
    • Buffering
    • Persistence


  • Solid understanding of data filtering, present-time filtering, future-time predictions, and interpolation/smoothing methods.
  • Ability to conduct performance tuning and debugging.
  • Experience with C++, C#, and/or Python programming.
  • Experience with ASP.NET, Blazor, .NET Core, and/or Mono is beneficial.
  • Proficiency in a high-level programming language, with C++ and/or C# preferred.



The selected candidate will be required to pass a pre-employment third-party background check which may include verification of any of the following: Employment history; Education and/or certifications; Criminal history; Driving Records; Other records or information related to the candidate's suitability for the position.


Position Salary Range: $78,000 - $113,000. The listed salary range represents the typical range for this position. WR bases the offered salary on a variety of factors including, but not limited to, individual candidate qualifications, such as education, experience, knowledge, and skills, scope and responsibilities of the position, and market and business considerations.
