The Exposure Biology and Chemistry Laboratory, established by Prof. Junfeng (Jim) Zhang and co-directed by Profs. Junfeng Zhang and Yan Lin, conducts biomarker-based research focusing the complex interactions between human host factors (genetic traits, health status, etc.) and environmental exposures (especially air pollution) in order to understand how risk factors affect human health at the individual and population levels. As such, research outcomes are expected to help design more personalized prevention and intervention strategies to reduce the harmful effects of environmental hazard.

Minimum Requirements:



  • .A doctoral degree in analytical chemistry, environmental health, environmental chemistry, or related field



Preferred Qualifications:



  • At least one year of experience (including doctoral research) in an analytical chemistry laboratory. The ideal candidate will have strong skills in mass spectrometry (coupled with HPLC), data analysis, ability to handle multiple priorities, and be able to communicate effectively with collaborators and team members



This position will be based at Duke University in Durham, NC.

The postdoctoral associate will work on several ongoing projects aiming to dissect the role of lipid metabolism in environment-induced cardiorespiratory diseases. The main duty included performing sample analysis using HPLC and HPLC-MS-MS, conducting data analysis, and writing manuscripts. Other minor duties include assisting with grant proposal preparation and submission and co-supervising graduate and undergraduate students on relevant aspects of research such as sample and data analysis. The position will be expected to contribute to innovation by identifying new mechanisms of environment-induced chronic diseases with therapeutic potential. Anticipated Pay Range: Duke University provides an annual base salary range for this position as USD $65,000 to USD $77,500.00 and is based on years of relevant experience. Duke University considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position; candidate's work experience, education/training, and key skills; internal peer equity; as well as market and organizational considerations whenextending an offer.
