We are a multi-disciplined engineering and design-build firm that offers challenging and rewarding growth opportunities to our employees. We are looking to add a Construction Manager Intern to our EPC group for the summer of 2025. Our client base includes multiple Fortune 100 companies, municipalities, and state agencies. Mead & Hunt provides turnkey design-build services for industrial clients. Mead & Hunt's industrial clients are located throughout the United States and include top-brand beverage, beverage bottling, food processing and renewable energy companies.

Mead & Hunt, a nationally recognized professional services consulting firm, is seeking a full-time, limited-term Construction Manager Intern to join our team. This internship is anticipated to begin in May/June 2027 and continue through August/September 2027.

This position offers an excellent opportunity to gain hands-on experience working alongside experienced construction professionals on complex industrial design-build projects. Our client base includes Fortune 100 companies, municipalities, and state agencies, with projects serving the food and beverage, renewable energy, industrial manufacturing, and processing industries throughout the United States. There is also potential for this internship to transition into a full-time position upon graduation.

Responsibilities include:

  • Assist project teams with the preparation and presentation of project plans
  • Review design information and develop scopes of work/bid packages for all assigned items
  • Maintain all project documents including contract drawings, specifications, shop drawings, and RFIs
  • Establish and expedite the submittal process
  • Change order management
  • Material and equipment expediting
  • Prepare & maintain all documentation required for assigned role, including correspondence, emails, meeting minutes, and reports
  • Assist project teams with onsite safety management and control
  • Participate in daily/weekly/monthly project meetings as directed by project management
  • Assist in coordination of all onsite inspections, testing and walk throughs
  • Work with project management and subcontractors to prepare a detailed project schedule
  • Collaborate with site construction manager on project commissioning and project startup
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Travel is required for this internship. Following onboarding in our West Allis, WI office, the intern will gain hands-on experience by working full-time at project sites located throughout the United States.

The successful candidate must have:

  • Completed at least four semesters of college-level coursework in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, or a related field.

The preferred candidate will have:

  • Strong communication skills (both written and verbal) and exemplary interpersonal skills
  • Ability to learn quickly and "think on your feet"
  • High level of self-motivation and strong initiative
  • The ability to prioritize and manage time, as well as the ability to work under tight deadlines
  • Strong attention to detail and follow-up skills
  • Demonstrated ability to think critically and make sound decisions
  • Experience using Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, Teams and Excel).

Physical Requirements:

Must be able to traverse uneven terrain on foot. Must be able to work in all types of weather conditions for

extended periods. Must be able to stand and walk for extended periods. Must be able to lift and/or move up to

10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Must be able to operate a motor vehicle. Must

be able to work nights, weekends, and holidays. Must be able to use a ladder/lift. Must be able to climb ladders and stairs. May need to be able to travel by air or boat.

  • Ability to travel up to 100%.
