Job Title: Java Lead Backend Developer

Duration: 6 Months Contract
Position Overview
We are seeking a Java Lead Backend Developer to support a high-visibility Personal Loans initiative within AP Tech. This role is part of a mission-based engineering group that is deployed to critical projects and business priorities across the organization. Team members are assigned to specific initiatives, deliver against key objectives, and transition to new engagements as business needs evolve.
The initial assignment will focus on enhancing and supporting Personal Loans platforms, addressing issues and improvements across mobile, web, and backend systems. This work is aligned with strategic 2027 business initiatives and may evolve as priorities shift.
Key Responsibilities
Design, develop, and support scalable backend applications using Java and Spring Framework technologies.
Build and enhance microservices, APIs, and distributed systems supporting enterprise applications.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify and resolve issues across mobile, web, and backend platforms.
Contribute to technical design, coding, testing, troubleshooting, and production support activities.
Leverage AI-assisted development tools to improve engineering efficiency and delivery.
Adapt quickly to changing project priorities and support multiple business initiatives as needed.
Required Qualifications
Strong hands-on experience with Java development.
Deep expertise across the Spring ecosystem (Spring Boot, Spring MVC, Spring Security, etc.).
Experience working with TypeScript.
Hands-on experience using AI Coding Agents, specifically Claude, within the software development lifecycle.
Experience developing and supporting enterprise-scale applications and APIs.
Strong problem-solving, debugging, and collaboration skills.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with microservices architecture and cloud-native development.
Knowledge of modern web application architectures and distributed systems.
Experience supporting financial services or lending-related applications.
Familiarity with Agile/Scrum development environments.
