Position Purpose
The Social Media Assistant supports the social media and short-form video strategy of the Hopkins Center by creating content for paid and organic channels as planned by the Digital Communications Manager and Director of External Affairs. Remote work is possible for most hours, with some on-site availability required for content capture and meetings.
Required Qualifications

  • Regular on-site work required, occasionally evenings & weekends.
  • 1+ years of experience in social media management and content creation for social platforms.
  • Short-form video editing experience and demonstrated portfolio (Adobe Premiere or similar software).
  • Portfolio of brand-aligned posts and content on Instagram.
  • Demonstrated graphic design experience.
  • Current knowledge of social media landscape - best practices, platform features, trends.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with Sprout or similar social media management tool
  • Experience working as part of a collaborative digital team

Key Accountabilities
The Social Media Assistant executes organic and paid social media plans for Meta, YouTube and LinkedIn platforms by drafting posts, incorporating feedback and publishing posts. These posts promote events and feature programs, student activities, and the institutional priorities of a multifaceted arts center. The Assistant selects and formats photos, edits short-form video for reels, drafts captions and on-screen graphics, and thoughtfully assembles posts for review and tracks their work in a shared project management system. They shoot video and liaise with others to gather video content. They contribute to ideas for posts and workshop post ideas with the goal of creating engaging posts aligned with the Hop's voice and brand and inclusive of our social media strategy, experience and trends.
