Salary/Grade: EXS/5
Target hiring range for this position will be between $56,780 - $62,500 per year or per hour. Offered salary will be determined by the applicant's education, experience, knowledge, skills and abilities, as well as internal equity and alignment with market data.
Job Summary:
This position assists in the day-to-day operation and supervision of a comprehensive Sport Club program and helps oversees the annual Wildcat Summer Camp. The focus of the position is to enhance overall participant safety through direct supervision of Sport Clubs and Wildcat Summer Camp activities. Assistant Director, Sport Clubs and Wildcat Summer Camp reports to Associate Director, External Operations and Events.
*Willingness and ability to work a non-traditional schedule including evenings, weekends and holidays as required.
Specific Responsibilities:
Sport Clubs
- Provide leadership, direction and supervision to Sport Club programs and oversee the day-to-day Sport Club administration.
- Collaborate with Risk Management to review sport club activities, facilities, and equipment to ensure adherence to safety regulations.
- Serve as the primary liaison for Sport Club events and practices ensuring adequate support and risk mitigation.
- Conduct Sport Club Officer training and familiarize all Club Officers with current department, university and program policies and procedures as outlined in the Sport Club Manual.
- Maintain and enforce Sport Club eligibility practices in collaboration with the Office of the Registrar and University Health Services.
- Assist with budget oversight of Sport Clubs, helping to ensure financial responsibility, making purchases, processing payments and oversight of Sport Club allocation process.
- Serve as the primary advisor/liaison between Sport Club teams and the university.
- Assist the Sport Club Travel Coordinator in management of travel processes and procedures.
Wildcat Camp
- Assist with the day-to-day Wildcat Camp operations
- Communicate and serve as department liaison with camp parents prior to and throughout camp season
- Process online camp registration including waiver management, payment follow-up and confirmation.
- Recruit, hire and train Wildcat Camp staff.
- Assess inventory and equipment needs and submit purchase orders as necessary.
- Attend camp facility meetings and assign space as needed.
Other
- Responsible for adhering to all Department and University policies and procedures, as well as the rules, regulations, bylaws and interpretations of the Big Ten Conference, CSC, and the NCAA.
- Responsible for adhering to all Department and University continuing education initiatives and required certifications and trainings.
Miscellaneous
Performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
Successful completion of a full 4-year course of study in an accredited college or university leading to a bachelor's degree in Physical Education, Recreation, Wellness or higher degree; OR appropriate combination of education and experience.
Minimum 1 year experience in programming and developing Sports Club, Intramurals and Recreation, preferably at the collegiate level.
CPR/First Aid certified
Experience administering competitive sports, camp and recreation programs

Available to work weeknights and weekends as assigned.
Ability to work cooperatively with others and effectively interact and establish engaging relationships with a wide variety of constituents.
Preferred Competencies: (Skills, knowledge, and abilities)
- Knowledge of rules and regulations of the NCAA, CSC, Big Ten Conference and Northwestern University preferred
