Quality Engineer Co-Op

Job Description:

The Role:
Our site in San Luis Obispo, CA is seeking a Quality Co-Op to join our team for the Spring 2027 season. This assignment is intended to be full-time, 6 months in duration.

What You'll Do:

  • Support Material Review Board (MRB), nonconformance, and corrective action (CAPA) investigations.

  • Analyze quality and manufacturing data to identify trends and improvement opportunities

  • Assist with process improvement projects to increase efficiency and reduce waste.

  • Develop and update quality procedures, work instructions, and documentation.

  • Create and maintain quality metrics, dashboards, and management reports.

  • Participate in internal audits and quality system compliance activities.

  • Collaborate with Manufacturing, Engineering, and Supply Chain teams to resolve quality issues.

  • Support process validation, risk assessments, and engineering change activities

  • Present findings and recommendations for continuous improvement projects.

What We Seek:

  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or a related technical field.

  • Must be enrolled in an accredited college or university and available to participate in a full-time 6-month co-op assignment.

  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.

  • Ability to analyze data and communicate findings effectively through written and verbal presentations.

  • Experience with statistical analysis, Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or quality improvement methodologies is preferred.

  • Ability to work effectively in a cross-functional manufacturing environment.

  • Self-motivated with strong attention to detail and a willingness to learn.

  • Previous internship, co-op, laboratory, or manufacturing experience is preferred.

  • Knowledge of quality systems, root cause analysis, ISO 9001, or semiconductor manufacturing is a plus.

  • Must be able to work onsite at the San Luis Obispo manufacturing facility for the duration of the co-op assignment.

Desired Major(s) & Graduation Year:

  • Pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Quality Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Materials Engineering, or a related technical discipline.

  • Students entering their Junior or Senior year preferred.

  • Expected graduation date within 12-24 months following completion of the co-op assignment.

  • Graduation years: 2027, 2028, or 2029 preferred.

Eligibility:

  • Must be a currently enrolled student

  • Available to work 40 hours a week, M-F (8a-5p) beginning in January through June

  • Must be familiar with the university's requirements to participate in a co-op program

  • Entegris is not currently hiring candidates for co-ops/internships who will need, now or at any time in the future, Entegris sponsorship through the H1-B lottery.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: This position requires the ability to work in both office and manufacturing environments. The co-op student will spend time on the production floor supporting quality investigations, process improvement activities, audits, and data collection. The role requires the ability to stand and walk for extended periods, use a computer for routine tasks, and occasionally lift or move materials weighing up to 25 pounds.

The individual must be able to wear all required personal protective equipment (PPE), including safety glasses, safety shoes, gloves, and cleanroom attire as required. The position also requires the ability to perform visual inspections of parts, assemblies, and manufacturing documentation, as well as safely access production areas while complying with all site safety and cleanroom requirements.

Compensation: $20-$30/hour range with actual pay dependent on candidate overall skills for the role.
