The Supply Chain Internship Program is geared toward current college students who have a passion for their major and an interest in Consumers Energy and the energy industry. The Internship Program at Consumers Energy has core principles of skill development, ability enhancement, and knowledge application - experience designed to be complimentary to traditional classroom instruction.

What you will do:

SupplyChainCooperativeAssistants(Interns)ofalllevelswillworkaspartofalargerteamtoprovidehands-on supportforvariousSupplyChainresponsibilitieswithinourbusiness.

Assignments could include the following:



  • Assistingwithprocurementactivities including datacleansing,data deepdives,metrics creationandmaintenance, materialcontractbidding,negotiationsandawards


  • SupportingSupplyChainOperationswithintheMaterialServices/Logisticsdepartment


  • Performingsupportfunctionsandmorecomplextasksincludingestablishingrelativeprioritiesofcurrentanticipatedworkload,organizingandconductingassignmentsaccordingtodeadlines,trackingofinformation,maintaininglogs/spreadsheets,andother similar support


  • Undergeneraldirection,the SupplyChainInternwillpreparespecialor one-timereports,summaries,orrepliestoinquiries,selectingrelevantinformationfromavarietyofsourcessuchasreports,documents,correspondence,otherareasofthecompany,etc.


  • Periodically,theselected Internmayevaluateprocess andprogrameffectiveness andtakeaction to maintaincontinuousimprovement


  • TheSupplyChain Internwillparticipateasanactiveteam memberby contributingtoprogramdevelopmentand organization planning,perform responsibilities in a manner that clearly shows effective communication andcooperationandthatpromotesopenexchangeofinformation,respect,highethicalstandardsandprofessionalism


  • Internsareexpectedtofollowsallsafetyrulesandprocedures,andcontributetothesafetyofco-workersandthegeneral public,maintainaclean and organizedwork space,and perform taskssupportingMaterialServiceswithinmultiplebusinessoperationsareas,orsplittimeasneeded
