Job Description
We are seeking an experienced Trade Compliance Professional with a strong background in building and managing export compliance programs. The ideal candidate will have deep subject matter expertise in U.S. export controls, encryption regulations, dual-use export classification, and licensing requirements, along with an understanding of hardware and software development lifecycles. This role will support the ongoing management and continuous improvement of a global export compliance program. The candidate will work under the direction of Global Trade Compliance Counsel and collaborate closely with engineering, technology, legal, and other cross-functional teams to identify compliance requirements, assess regulatory impacts, and develop effective compliance solutions. The ideal candidate will be creative, self-directed, highly collaborative, and capable of managing multiple compliance projects in a complex global technology environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct export classification reviews for intangible items, including software and technology associated with products, partnerships, development projects, vendors, suppliers, and infrastructure maintenance.
- Manage the collection of information and preparation of global trade licenses and declarations, including deemed export licenses for employees requiring access to controlled technology.
- Track U.S. and non-U.S. export licenses and authorizations, including expirations, renewals, and ongoing maintenance.
- Manage compliance and reporting obligations associated with applicable U.S. and non-U.S. licenses and authorizations.
- Monitor regulatory changes related to export controls and conduct enterprise-wide risk assessments to determine potential business and technology impacts.
- Evaluate the impact of regulatory changes on technology solutions, software, and development activities.
- Develop and maintain export compliance metrics and management reporting, with a particular focus on intangible technology and software.
- Partner with engineering and technical teams to determine applicable export controls and classification requirements.
- Collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders to identify compliance gaps, develop requirements, and implement new compliance solutions.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives across the global trade compliance program.
- Execute additional projects supporting the organization's global trade compliance objectives.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree required.
- 5+ years of experience in export compliance within a global corporate environment.
- 5+ years of experience with U.S. export classification under the Export Administration Regulations (EAR), with a focus on software and technology.
- In-depth knowledge of encryption regulations and export controls applicable to encryption technology.
- 5+ years of experience working with engineering teams to determine export controls and classification requirements.
- 5+ years of experience using SNAP-R for export licensing and compliance activities.
- 3+ years of experience managing an export classification program.
- Strong program/project management skills with the ability to manage multiple initiatives simultaneously.
- Strong communication and cross-functional collaboration skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with export controls for hardware.
- Experience with non-U.S. export control regulations.
- Experience with sanctions compliance.
- Experience supporting global technology, software, or hardware organizations.
- Experience developing export compliance processes, metrics, and risk assessment frameworks.
