Compensation

At S&C, we are dedicated to providing competitive and equitable compensation for all our team members, and we are committed to transparency in our pay practices. The estimated annual base salary range for this position is $87,740-$116,260.80. Individual pay within this salary range is determined by several compensable factors, including performance, knowledge, job-related skills and experience, and relevant education or training. This role is also eligible for S&C's annual incentive plan (AIP), subject to eligibility criteria.

Are you passionate about Manufacturing Engineering? The Manufacturing Engineer III serves as the technical owner for manufacturing performance at the site, driving process excellence, production layout optimization, and equipment reliability with a high degree of autonomy. Using data driven and statistical methods, this role translates operational insights into sustainable improvements in safety, quality, delivery, cost, and capacity in collaboration with cross functional and centralized engineering teams.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manufacturing Ownership & Strategy: Independently support manufacturing operations as the technical owner for assigned production areas. Lead process improvements, tooling updates, and production layout changes that improve safety, quality, delivery, and cost with minimal supervision.

  • Process, PSPSs & Layout Ownership: Own manufacturing PSPs, work instructions, build processes, and lead the design, modification, and implementation of production layouts, fixtures, and workstations. Take direct ownership of physical material flow from receiving inspection through production and final packaging to ensure efficient, ergonomic, and scalable manufacturing.

  • Equipment, Tooling & Capital Management: Drive hands-on technical support for production equipment and fixtures, including mechanical, pneumatic, and basic electrical systems. Manage production line tooling strategy, configuration control, and support capital planning through equipment upgrades, replacements, and capital requisitions in alignment with current design standards.

  • Troubleshooting & Corrective Action: Lead troubleshooting efforts for equipment, fixture, and test system issues. Perform root cause analysis, implement sustainable corrective actions, and engage centralized Maintenance Engineering when required.

  • Equipment Installation & Validation: Support the installation, modification, and validation of production fixtures and electrical and hi pot test equipment to ensure safety, compliance, and process capability.

  • Operational Metrics & Decision Support: Develop and leverage production metrics, KPIs, and analytical tools to monitor yields, capacity, cost, and process capability. Use operational data to identify trends, define leading indicators, and provide actionable, predictive insights that guide improvement priorities and inform leadership decision making.

  • Cross Functional Collaboration: Drive interdepartmental collaboration to align engineering efforts with production, maintenance, product engineering, and quality objectives. Serve as a technical resource and liaison across teams.

  • Safety, Compliance & Knowledge Sharing: Promote and implement safety, ergonomic, and compliance improvements across tools, equipment, and workstations. Maintain technical documentation and provide guidance or informal training to support production teams.

Education & Certification/Licenses

Required

  • Bachelor's degree in Manufacturing, Mechanical, Industrial, Electrical Engineering.

Preferred

  • Master's degree in Manufacturing, Industrial, or Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent experience.

  • Technical coursework or certifications related to industrial equipment, controls, or maintenance technologies.

  • Project Management Professional (PMP)

  • Six Sigma Green Belt Certification

  • Lean Manufacturing Certification

What you need to succeed:

  • 4-9 years of experience in manufacturing engineering, production support, or industrial equipment environments.

  • Strong hands-on experience with mechanical and pneumatic systems.

  • Working knowledge of electrical systems, test equipment, and safe troubleshooting practices.

  • Advanced ability to apply statistical analysis to optimize production workflows, process performance, and production layouts.

  • Experience using data-driven methods to identify root causes, prioritize improvement opportunities, and validate corrective actions.

  • Strong problem-solving skills with a demonstrated ability to translate complex technical issues into practical, sustainable solutions.

  • Exceptional analytical, interpersonal, and communication skills; able to collaborate effectively across engineering, operations, maintenance, and leadership teams.

  • Demonstrated ability to plan, prioritize, and execute work independently, managing multiple initiatives without close supervision.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project, Power BI or similar), including strong data analysis and visualization skills.

Preferred

  • Familiarity with Design of Experiments (DOE) and other advanced statistical tools to drive process and equipment improvements.

  • Formal electrical safety training (e.g., NFPA 70E, OSHA Electrical Safety) with practical experience supporting or operating hi pot test equipment under documented qualification procedures.

  • Exposure to production equipment reliability, preventive maintenance, or equipment standardization initiatives.

  • Formal technical coursework, industry certifications, or equivalent professional training related to industrial equipment, automation, electrical controls, or maintenance and reliability technologies.

  • Lifting & Carrying: Infrequently required to solo lift and/or carry items ranging in weight from 5 to 35lbs.

  • Position Self/Move: Occasionally required to position self to perform tasks involving but not limited to reaching, twisting, rotating, and pushing/pulling.

  • Manual Dexterity: Occasionally required to use hand-eye coordination to control both hands and arms for a full range of motion to operate equipment/machinery/power tools/office productivity equipment.

  • Ascending/Descending: Infrequently ascending or descending ladders/stairs/scaffolding/ramps/poles.

  • Observation/Eyesight: Occasionally required to observe details at close range, including depth perception, peripheral vision, and the ability to differentiate between colors.

  • Communication: Continuously required to talk and hear in person and by phone/conference calls.

  • Travel: Infrequently required to travel

Environmental & Hazardous Conditions

  • Continuously working indoors/outdoors in an air-conditioned/non-air-conditioned office/manufacturing/site-based environment.

  • Occasionally exposed to fumes/vapors/dust/gases/odors/mist/toxic chemicals/radiation/vibration/grease/oils/radiation/lasers/other, etc.

  • Occasionally exposed to low/moderate/high noise levels including machinery/vehicles/forklifts/office equipment/office traffic etc.

  • Occasionally working around energized equipment with the risk of electrocution/scalding/burns/other etc.
