Job Description

DRIVE THE PLAN. CLEAR THE ROADBLOCKS. HELP GET EVERY ORDER OUT THE DOOR.

At PCC Structurals - Carson City, shipping is the final step between completed production and the customer. The Level III Shipping Coordinator keeps that step moving by tracking orders, driving shipment priorities, resolving problems, and maintaining focus on daily sales-to-ship goals.

This is a hands-on leadership role for someone who sees what needs to happen, follows through, and keeps others aligned. You'll serve as the Shipping Supervisor's right-hand person and primary backup while helping lead the daily flow of work through the shipping dock.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

  • Track scheduled orders and maintain visibility into what must ship each day.
  • Lead daily dock meetings covering shipment priorities, sales objectives, product status, constraints, and next steps.
  • Monitor actual and projected shipment performance against daily sales-to-ship goals.
  • Identify orders at risk of missing shipment commitments and follow up until issues are resolved.
  • Coordinate with Production, Quality, Sales, and plant leadership to remove barriers that could delay shipment.
  • Prioritize dock activities based on customer commitments, production status, shipment readiness, and daily objectives.
  • Assign and provide direction on daily work for Shipping employees.
  • Keep the Shipping Supervisor informed of shipment progress, delays, risks, and operational concerns.
  • Serve as the primary backup to the Shipping Supervisor and coordinate daily dock operations during Supervisor absences.
  • Review parts, quantities, certifications, purchase-order requirements, and shipping documentation before product leaves the facility.
  • Prepare and process packing slips, bills of lading, certifications, invoices, labels, and other required documents.
  • Coordinate FedEx, UPS, freight, international, and other carrier shipments.
  • Complete ERP transactions, customer portal requirements, ASN/EDI transactions, and applicable shipping records.
  • Research and resolve discrepancies involving certifications, quantities, purchase orders, product identification, and shipping instructions.
  • Train and mentor Level I and Level II Shipping Coordinators.
  • Support improvements to dock workflow, shipping accuracy, documentation processes, and on-time delivery.
  • Maintain a safe, clean, and organized shipping dock.

YOU MIGHT BE A GREAT FIT IF YOU...

  • Naturally take ownership and follow important orders through to completion.
  • Are goal-driven and stay focused on meeting daily shipment and sales objectives.
  • Know how to lead daily work, communicate priorities, and hold people accountable respectfully.
  • Are comfortable being the person others turn to when the Supervisor is unavailable.
  • Follow up consistently instead of assuming someone else handled the issue.
  • Can balance urgency with accuracy when several shipments compete for attention.
  • Notice risks early and take action before they become missed commitments.
  • Communicate clearly with Shipping, Production, Quality, Sales, and leadership.
  • Are organized, dependable, and comfortable working in a fast-moving environment.
  • Can make practical decisions while knowing when an issue should be escalated.
  • Want a role where leadership, accountability, and results are part of the daily work.

WHY THIS ROLE MATTERS
