Job DescriptionSummer 2027 Internship Duration: Monday, May 17th- August 20th, 2027 Location: Austin, TX What You Can Expect:
Tokyo Electron Limited, a Japanese semiconductor company and one of the ten largest companies in Japan, is looking to hire a part-time legal intern for its legal department at its U.S. headquarters in Austin, TX. Rising 2Ls are preferred. This is a paid position for Summer of 2027. This internship will be payrolled via our payroll processing provider. Our U.S. legal team is comprised of experienced attorneys, paralegals, and administrative staff. We work closely with our in-house legal colleagues in Japan, Europe and across Asia. The focus of this position is in commercial and corporate practice. We have proudly employed four previous law students in this role and recently hired one of our former interns to a full-time role as an attorney. Our experience with our intern program has been excellent and we want to continue offering this position to law students. We can offer the right candidate the ability to engage in substantive legal work from day one, including work on our non-disclosure agreements, basic transactional agreements, research projects and client-facing meetings. You will learn how to draft, revise, and analyze a range of commercial agreements. You will learn about the operation of corporate compliance programs, and you will assist with the handling and disposition of a variety of disputes. In addition, you will learn how to navigate a legal department in a multi-national corporation in a cutting-edge industry. This is not a "hard" IP role and it will not deal with patent drafting or prosecution; thus, you do not need experience or a background in IP or technology. However, you will encounter numerous "soft IP" issues such as trade secrets and licensing. Qualifications:
Diversity creates an innovative culture.
