Mead & Hunt, a nationally recognized professional services consulting firm, is seeking a full-time, limited-term Electrical Engineering Intern to join our Greenhouse Gas Reduction Electrical Engineering Team in our West Allis, WI office. This internship is anticipated to begin in May/June 2027 and continue through August/September 2027.

As an Electrical Engineering Intern, you will support engineers and project teams on a variety of electrical engineering projects while gaining exposure to all phases of project development and design. This role provides an opportunity to develop technical skills through real-world project experience and mentorship from experienced professionals.

Responsibilities include:

  • Assisting engineers with the design and analysis of industrial electrical and controls systems, including the design of low-voltage power distribution systems, lighting systems, and instrumentation and control systems
  • Assisting with the analysis, preparation, and modification of reports, plans, drawings, schedules, studies, and designs for engineering projects.
  • Utilizing engineering and design software such as AutoCAD and Microsoft Office applications.
  • Developing technical skills through mentorship and guidance from senior engineers.
  • May attend client meetings and assist with client communications related to specific projects.
  • participate in project-related travel.
  • Performing other duties as assigned.

The successful candidate must have:

  • Completed at least two (four preferred) semesters of college-level coursework in Electrical Engineering, Architectural Engineering, or a related field, and an interest in industrial power distribution and/or control systems.

The preferred candidate will have:

  • Previous industrial internship experience
  • Familiarity with AutoCAD
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office
  • Familiarity with applicable regulatory codes
  • Strong enthusiasm for learning and professional development
  • Eagerness to grow technical and projectbased skills
  • Good written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • A positive, proactive attitude and willingness to seek feedback

Physical Requirements:

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. The employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; use hands to handle or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
