The Department of Psychiatry is seeking a temporary, part-time Laboratory Assistant to support the research activities of Dr. Susan Shen's laboratory. The Shen Lab focuses on improving clinical decision-making by examining how an individual's unique risk factors are shaped by the complex interaction of genetic predispositions and dynamic environmental influences. To better understand these relationships, the laboratory utilizes a broad range of data modalities, including genomics, microscopy imaging, cellular and animal models, and human participant data to characterize molecular, cellular, and behavioral phenotypes. Responsibilities include: * Primary duty will be washing and autoclaving glassware and plasticware * May assist with ordering supplies and keeping inventory * May assist with laboratory cleaning and equipment maintenance * May assist with data organization in shared databases * May assist with adherence to safety and compliance guidelines * May assist with other tasks to support laboratory operations Required Qualifications * A bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience * Outstanding interpersonal and verbal and written communication skills * Organizational skills and attention to detail Desired Qualifications * A bachelor's degree in biology, chemistry, or other STEM field * Hands-on experience with cell culture techniques * Hands-on experience with molecular biology techniques * Familiarity with statistics and experience with R programming language Note: This is a temporary, short-term position.
