This role is restricted to U.S. persons (i.e., U.S. citizens, permanent residents, and other protected individuals under the Immigration and Naturalization Act, 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3)) due to access to export-controlled technology. FTT will require proof of status prior to employment.

General Job Summary:

The drafter/modeler shall have an expert knowledge of drafting methods, procedures, and techniques. Creates and modifies detailed drawings using CAD hardware and software from sketches, layouts, or notes provided by engineering.

Essential Job Functions:



  • Duties are performed under minimal supervision.
  • Contributes design modifications to facilitate manufacturing operation or quality of product.
  • Checks drawing plots versus the project input for correctness and conformance to standards.
  • Works with engineers regarding model accuracy, design, drafting standards, and ECN/ECR documentation.
  • Prepares models and detail drawings of moderately complex to complex parts.
  • Prepares models and drawings of moderately complex to complex assemblies and subassemblies.
  • Works closely with engineering to incorporate all requirements into a design.
  • Manages and prepares large assemblies, including parts list/BOM creation.
  • Comply with all related specifications in the preparation of product definition, including geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T).
  • Works on assignments requiring considerable judgment and initiative.
  • Understands implications of work and makes recommendations for solutions.
  • As a skilled specialist, completes tasks in resourceful and effective ways.
  • Determines methods and procedures on new assignments. May be informal team leader.
  • Acquires job skills and learns company policies and procedures to complete routine tasks.
  • Possess the knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the assigned duties.
  • Maintains sensitive and confidential information as required by company and government requirements.
  • Communicates and interacts effectively with peers, supervisors, and public, including maintaining respect for others, and following company policies.

Required Experience:

  • Shall possess a working knowledge of Siemens NX preferred or PTC CREO 3D CAD software.
  • PLM software: Team Center or Windchill and SAP experience is desirable.
  • Have a willingness and ability to learn and utilize company technology for company required purposes, including, for example training, reviewing and signing policies and procedures, benefits enrollment and changes, and more.

Education and Experience:



  • A.S. degree in Drafting and Design Technology or equivalent is required.
  • 5+ years of related experience


Work Environment/Physical Requirements:



  • Office/open cubicle environment.
  • Ability to sit for long periods of time.
  • Ability to perform repetitive motion with wrists/hands (keyboarding, mouse, phones).
  • Ability to view and see drawings.
