Summary: This 1st Shift Machine Operator sets up and operates machine tools such as compression molding presses, blenders, ovens, and routing machines. Responsibilities:
- Follows job order for product specifications such as dimensions and tolerances, tooling instructions, fixtures, and equipment settings.
- Selects, positions, and secures tool in tool holder
- Moves controls to position press and work piece in relation to each other, and to set specified feeds, speeds, and pressures.
- Observes operation of machine and verifies conformance of work piece to specifications
Minimum required qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Must be able to measure parts using micrometers, calipers or other measuring tools
The ideal candidate possesses the following experience, skills, and abilities:
- Clear communication, both oral and written
- Organization skills; keep area clean to 5S standards
- Prior shop or mechanical experience desired
- Must work according to safety policies and procedures
- Basic computer skills
Mental/Visual/Physical Effort:
- Walks, stands, reaches, and bends frequently.
- Periodic lifting of moderate to heavy items may be required.
- Possesses good hand/eye coordination.
Physical Hazards:
- Normal operations require eye protection, steal toed shoes, and ear protection.
- Hot works requires aprons, heat resistant gloves, sleeves, and aprons.
- Chemical process requires face shield and mask.
- Additional safety equipment may be required.
Material Hazards:
- Illness or injury from materials present in normal working environment is unlikely.
Working Conditions:
- Exposure to normal machine shop environment with periodic noise.
- Limited disagreeable factors present.
- Certain environments may fall under the site's respiratory protection program where they would be required to pass a medical evaluation and undergo a respirator fit test.
