POSITION OVERVIEW: Ensures the profitability and success of K&L Microwave and MPG by supporting and managing the machine shop. Coordinates machine shop activities with all other functions of the organization to obtain optimum production and utilization of human resources, machines, and equipment. Maintains production and quality standards ensuring all established cost, quality, and delivery commitments are met. Provides guidance to the development of processes, including personnel requirements, material needs, subcontract requirements, facility needs, and tooling and equipment needs. Maintains machine shop staff by planning, coaching, and counseling, monitoring, and developing individuals. Ensures employee safety by performing employee observations, routine inspections, and employee training and retraining. RESPONSIBILITIES: * Reviews, understands, interprets, and communicates K&L and MPG's vision, mission, strategies, and goals to all department personnel. * Builds strong sense of teamwork and purpose within departments * Ensures departmental compliance to all corporate policies, procedures, and work instructions. * Ensures quality standards are met by following AS9100 procedures and providing communication and support to departments * Strive for on-time deliveries through management of the machine shop using the MRP/ERP system and other internal and customer support tools. * Optimize set up time and machining time through process improvements. * Work with all departments to ensure correct priorities and timely delivery for shipment to customers * Use and record performance reviews, training sessions, mentoring opportunities to achieve maximum effectiveness from department personnel. * Interface with Product Lines to ensure that the internal customer is informed about the status of orders and any deviations from commitments made to external customers. * Participate in staff meetings, all hands meetings, production meetings, and other meetings to promote communication throughout the company. * Ensure activities such as cleaning, repairing, and preventive maintenance of machinery is maintained on a regular schedule. * Ensure departmental compliance with implementation and sustainability of 0DOVER and any other program put in place to improve on overall operations of K&L and MPG * Ensure the machine shop complies with the safety standards, local environmental safety standards and appropriate quality assurance standards. QUALIFICATIONS SUMMARY: * Minimum 5-7 years' experience with operation of 3 and 4 axis CNC Machines, tool setup, editing and inspection in prototype and production environments. * Minimum 2-3-year experience managing schedules, workflow, safety, personnel and equipment. Five + years' supervisory or management experience. * PMP Certification is strongly preferred, but not required. * Proficiency with MRP/ERP systems is essential. * Proficiency with MS Office Suite is required. * Excellent communication skills both written and oral.
