Department:ICE | CASL Radiation Oncology Photon PhysicsDepartment's Website: Summary of Job Duties:The Medical Physicist supports and advances clinical operations across the UAMS Radiation Oncology Clinic, contributing to institutional initiatives in quality, safety, education, and clinical innovation. This position provides independent professional expertise in treatment planning, dose calculation, and quality assurance to ensure safe, effective, and patient-centered radiation therapy. The physicist provides clinical coverage for photon and/or proton therapy services, including daily treatment support; commissioning, calibration, and routine and patient-specific quality assurance of treatment planning, delivery, and imaging systems; and maintenance of QA programs in accordance with AAPM, regulatory, and institutional standards. Collaboration with physicians, dosimetrists, therapists, engineers, and staff is essential to support safe workflows, complex treatment planning, and chart review processes. The position also supports the clinical implementation and optimization of advanced technologies, such as SRS/SBRT, proton therapy, surface-guided radiation therapy, motion management, dual-energy CT, and emerging treatment and imaging platforms. As a faculty member, the physicist participates in education and mentorship, accreditation and regulatory activities, quality improvement initiatives, translational clinical research, and departmental service.
