Job Description
Primary Purpose PALNG is seeking an Instrument Technician; a skilled tradesperson whose primary responsibilities include inspecting, maintaining and troubleshooting instrumentation systems. They possess a solid understanding of process controls, field instrumentation and can systematically troubleshoot problems using an assortment of test equipment and diagnostic tools. Their goal is to ensure that all instruments and control system components meet all required specifications and function reliability to support safe and efficient operations while maintaining environmental compliance.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Install, monitor, repair and calibrate process automation equipment that manipulates pressure, flow, temperature, level, velocity (speed), gas detection and other process variables toward reliable control of an operating unit and its related facilities.
- Read and interpret P&ID's, loop drawings, and capabilities to research OEM specification manuals to determine instrument and controls system installation, layouts, and functional requirements.
- Support construction walkdowns and commissioning activities.
- Some duties will require working with voltages up to 120vac.
- Verify instrument performance following new or repaired installation before return to service.
- Perform regular PM testing and inspections to ensure optimal operation of the instruments.
- Evaluate instrument system setting, performance, and installation to ensure alignment with ISA, API, and NEC standards.
- Evaluate instrument performance using software tools to identify optimization and enhancement opportunities.
- Perform online testing of Safety Instrumented System (SIS) on various systems and document performance.
- Ensure compliance with safety protocols, procedures, and regulations to maintain a safe working environment and prevent accidents and injuries.
- Disconnect and/or reconnect instrumentation connections as required to facilitate repair of process, fixed, and rotating equipment.
- Document work performed, including repairs, modifications, and maintenance activities, using electronic records and reports.
- Evaluate pneumatic tubing systems for leaks and ensure proper functionality and performance using leak detection fluids and other testing equipment.
- Repair and replace damaged or defective pneumatic components, including valves, fittings, filters and connectors. Advise management on whether continued operation of equipment could be hazardous.
- Perform business management duties (maintaining records or files, preparing reports, or ordering supplies or equipment).
- Capabilities to navigate within SAP (access WO's, BOM's, Equipment information, time confirmations, etc.)
- Perform physically demanding tasks, such as lifting heavy objects, climbing stairs, vertical ladders, etc.
- Work from ladders, scaffolds, tank roofs, elevated platforms, etc.
- Performs other duties as assigned
- Opportunity to lead contract craft team during events
- Rotational callouts and extended hours could be required.

- Required: High school diploma or equivalent.
Experience
- Required: Typically requires 5 years of related experience.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Exhibit extensive knowledge in implementing best practices commonly used in industrial maintenance organizations.
- Possess in-depth knowledge of operating site safety, environmental, and emergency response programs.
- Exhibit analytical thinking and ability to utilize concise data and information while working through problems and implementing solutions.
- Demonstrate the ability to apply strong written and oral communication skills while participating in discussions with internal and external project stakeholders.
- Demonstrate proficiency in using hand tools, power tools, and instrumentation bench equipment.
- Demonstrate a proficiency in using electronic calibration and testing instruments such as digital multimeters, HART Communicators, and various other diagnostic tools such as:
- multi-function process calibrators.
- Possess physical stamina and strength to perform manual labor, lift heavy objects, and work in various positions and environments.
- Display extensive experience in managing and mitigating risks associated with fluid systems maintenance work.
- Possess strong working knowledge and understanding of how to read and interpret P&ID, loops sheets, system cause and effects, and control narratives.
- Process Safety Information related to operation of an LNG plant.
- Possess the ability to manage multiple and complex issues and work independently.
- Show consistent attention to detail and a commitment to quality, with the ability to diagnose and repair instrumentation issues safely, accurately, and efficiently.
- Possess strong working knowledge of Control of Work and safe isolation practices.

FIELD: Work in the field due to the nature of the duties and responsibilities of the position.
