About the Opportunity:

The Environmental Health and Safety Manager position is responsible for regulatory compliance relating to OSHA, EPA, workers compensation, and with all Company policies, practices and procedures. Environmental duties include environmental monitoring, evaluating and updating all permit conditions, state and federal environmental laws and regulations. Safety duties include the application of all state and Federal OSHA rules and regulations to assure safety compliance. This position will also manage and administers the Worker's Compensation program. The EHS Manager will work at the Cleveland, OH location and will report directly to the site General Manager, with a matrix reporting relationship to the Corporate EHS function.

Location: Cleveland, OH-onsite

Responsibilities:

  • Assures that the Company complies with all local, state and federal environmental regulations.
  • Monitors all physical locations for compliance and improvement opportunities.
  • Assures all permits and records are current, accurate and valid.
  • Conducts effective investigations into EHS incidents.
  • This position must also work closely and effectively with corporate and external counsel.
  • Maintains effective relationships with all agencies, compliance officers and inspectors.
  • Communicates all Company policies and procedures for compliance.
  • Administers policies and procedures in an equal manner.
  • Continually reviews and updates Company policies to reflect regulatory changes, changes in operations as necessary to support management strategy, objectives and goals.
  • Maintains professional knowledge and professional certifications where necessary in the areas of environmental and safety laws, regulations and state-of-the-art processes and procedures to achieve Company objectives and goals.
  • The incumbent will work with a diverse group of teams or individuals that will include regulations, contractors, lawyers, consultants and a wide variety of internal resources. A significant portion of the job duties and expectations for that position is that the position will spend the majority of hours actively engaged in the operations; walking through the operations on a daily basis, working with supervisors and hourly employees to assure safety of the individuals and the operations.
  • This position will have significant work with regulators in the areas of environmental and safety compliance. The position will work closely with Corporate EHS, and site employees & management.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Industrial Technology, or Engineering
  • 5 years of work experience in an industrial setting with environment health and safety responsibilities.
  • Must be authorized to work in the U.S. on a full-time bases without sponsorship now or in the future. The Company cannot offer employment to visa holders who require employer sponsorship in the future or cannot work now on a full-time basis.
  • Must be able to perform work subject to ITAR/EAR regulations.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Aerospace and/or manufacturing experience
  • Proficient knowledge of the federal and state requirements governing environmental and safety issues for industrial manufacturing.
  • Experience providing continual analysis and inspection of complex environmental and safety rules and regulations
  • Effective and productive communication skills, the ability to speak well, communicating ideas clearly. In addition, the incumbent must write well, clearly and concisely, be approachable, and open to discussion.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Demonstrated self-starter takes on and completes work without prompting.

Working Conditions:

  • Requires mobility in a manufacturing plant environment while using Personal Protective Equipment.
  • Must be able to frequently sit, stand and walk.
  • Must be able to lift and carry up to 35 pounds.
  • Capable of being forklift, scissor lift, and boom lift certified
  • Must be able to climb ladder, work on platforms, and climb stairs
  • Personal protective equipment (e.g., safety glasses and safety shoes) is required on the shop floor
  • Occasional weekend and evening work may be required to accommodate priorities, deadlines, and schedules.
