Maintenance & Facilities Manager

Build Reliability. Lead the Team. Keep Operations Moving.

Applied Aerospace & Defense is looking for an experienced, hands-on Maintenance & Facilities Manager to lead the maintenance and facilities function supporting our aerospace manufacturing operations.

This is an opportunity for a strong maintenance leader who enjoys being out on the manufacturing floor, solving problems, developing a team, improving equipment reliability, and keeping operations running safely and efficiently.

This is not a position for someone who wants to manage maintenance from behind a desk. We are looking for a leader who is comfortable working alongside the team, troubleshooting equipment issues, partnering with Operations and Engineering, and taking ownership when challenges arise.

What You'll Do

As our Maintenance & Facilities Manager, you will lead the people, processes, equipment, and facility activities that keep our manufacturing operation running.

You will:



  • Lead, develop, and support the Maintenance and Facilities team.
  • Oversee daily maintenance activities, priorities, staffing, and schedules.
  • Build and maintain effective preventive and corrective maintenance programs.
  • Partner closely with Operations, Engineering, Quality, EHS, and other teams to minimize equipment downtime.
  • Ensure manufacturing equipment, machinery, and facility systems remain safe, reliable, and operational.
  • Troubleshoot machine and equipment issues and help determine appropriate repairs and corrective actions.
  • Drive equipment reliability and identify opportunities to reduce downtime and improve performance.
  • Ensure machine guards, safety devices, and other critical safety features are properly maintained.
  • Oversee electrical, HVAC, plumbing, compressed air, lighting, roofs, grounds, and other facility systems.
  • Manage internal maintenance activities as well as outside contractors, suppliers, and service providers.
  • Maintain accurate preventive maintenance schedules, equipment records, and maintenance logs.
  • Monitor maintenance and facilities expenses and identify opportunities to manage costs effectively.
  • Review and approve purchases for maintenance parts, oils, coolants, cleaners, machine components, and facility supplies.
  • Oversee scrap-metal and chip removal activities.
  • Promote and maintain a clean, organized, and safe workplace using 6S principles.
  • Establish and monitor maintenance and facilities performance metrics.
  • Ensure team members complete required safety, compliance, and job-related training.
  • Conduct performance reviews, coach employees, and address performance issues when necessary.
  • Help create a culture of safety, accountability, urgency, teamwork, and continuous improvement.


What We're Looking For



  • We're looking for a leader who can balance people leadership with hands-on technical knowledge.
  • Minimum Qualifications
  • 8-10 years of progressive experience in maintenance, facilities, industrial manufacturing, or a related field.
  • Previous supervisory or management experience.
  • Strong knowledge of industrial equipment, machine maintenance, and facility systems.
  • Demonstrated mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to coach, develop, and hold teams accountable.
  • Experience managing preventive maintenance programs.
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
  • Experience working with vendors, contractors, and suppliers.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office or similar business applications.
  • We'd Especially Like to Meet You If You Have
  • Aerospace, defense, precision machining, or complex manufacturing experience.
  • Experience supporting CNC machining or other industrial manufacturing equipment.
  • Experience with Epicor or another ERP/maintenance management system.
  • Strong knowledge of preventive and predictive maintenance practices.
  • Experience developing maintenance KPIs and using data to improve equipment reliability.
  • Familiarity with 6S, Lean Manufacturing, or continuous improvement principles.
  • A reputation for being a hands-on leader who isn't afraid to get involved when there's a problem.

Physical Requirements

This position works in both office and active manufacturing environments and requires regular presence on the manufacturing floor.

The role may require standing, walking, bending, stooping, kneeling, and working around manufacturing equipment. The employee must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.

Skills and qualifications:



  • Demonstrated ability to attract, retain and develop a skilled technical team with strong customer focus and relentless attention to safe, efficient operations.
  • Ability to manage third-party service providers as an effective complement to in-house staff.
  • General understanding of EHS regulations and standards. Experience in identifying critical risks (e.g., machine guarding, electrical safety, LOTO, elevated work, etc.) is a must.
  • Demonstrated experience in maintenance management systems and process improvement.
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate and to foster continuous improvement.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop effective 360 degree working relationships which foster integrity, trust and respect through consistent performance, communication and responsiveness.
  • High degree of accuracy and attention to detail. Ability to manage multiple tasks.
  • Proficient computer skills in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.


Education & Experience:



  • Associates Degree, relevant certificates or equivalent on-the-job training required.
  • Minimum of 7 years of Maintenance supervisory experience in a manufacturing environment where preventive and corrective Maintenance demands where required; demonstrated leadership of EHS efforts strongly preferred.
