What to Expect
The Tesla Remanufacturing organization is seeking a Manufacturing Electrical Equipment Engineer to troubleshoot, develop, and optimize Electrical equipment for HV batteries remanufacturing processes. This role ensures the performance, reliability, and continuous improvement of equipment used in remanufacturing. The engineer will work with cross-functional teams, manage Electrical designs, train technicians, and drive initiatives to maximize overall equipment effectiveness (OEE) and manufacturing efficiency in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.

What You'll Do
  • Serve as the subject matter expert for equipment, troubleshooting issues related to yield, quality, downtime, and safety in remanufacturing processes
  • Research, specify, and integrate electrical test equipment including measurement tools, power supplies, sensors, and I/O devices for electrical, thermal, and mechanical testing
  • Manage equipment projects from concept to production, including design, validation, and ramp-up, while ensuring alignment with remanufacturing goals
  • Design and review NFPA79/NEC/UL508A-compliant industrial electrical control panels
  • Lead andparticipateheavily in start-up and commissioning activities. Act as the primary technical point of contact in the field for equipment energization and troubleshoot real-time issues
  • Partner with Design, Operations, Safety, Quality, and Process Engineering teams to achieve remanufacturing production goals
  • Train technicians on maintenance procedures and downtime recovery best practices specific to remanufacturing equipment
  • Proactively identify opportunities to enhance equipment reliability and efficiency in remanufacturing workflows
  • Work independently in ambiguous environments, taking initiative to resolve challenges and deliver results without direct oversight

What You'll Bring
  • Degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering or equivalent experience
  • 7+ years of experience in electrical systems, as well as panel-building, preferably in remanufacturing or similar environments
  • In-depth working knowledge of Analog, Digital, and Power Electronics Circuits, High Voltage Circuits, Motor Drive/Control Circuit, Sensing circuits, and Microcontrollers is preferred
  • Strong understanding and working knowledge of local and national technical and safety standards and codes (NEC, NETA, NFPA, OSHA), as well as a deep understanding of NFPA 70E and NETA ECS regarding shock and arc flash safety
  • General knowledge in SolidWorks, automation systems, PLCs, robotics, and electromechanical components
  • Strong problem-solving, organizational, and communication skills
  • A self-starter who thrives in ambiguous environments and takes initiative to drive results
  • Passionate about optimizing manufacturing equipment and processes, with a hands-on approach in a remanufacturing setting
