The University of Texas at Dallas has an excellent job opportunity for individuals looking to join our team as a Building Coordinator in the Naveen Jindal School of Management ( JSOM). This position supports the daily operation of JSOM facilities by ensuring classrooms, meeting spaces, and common areas are organized, functional, and ready for use.
The Building Coordinator assists with facility operations, event and classroom setups, furniture and equipment moves, inventory organization, and coordination of maintenance-related needs. Strong written communication skills are essential, as daily interaction and coordination through email and university communication systems are a critical part of the role.
This is a hands-on position that requires regular physical activity, including lifting and moving furniture, equipment, and other materials to support building operations and special events.
Lifting and moving heavy objects will be required on a daily basis.
Minimum Education and Experience

High School diploma or GED. Intermediate proficiency level in Microsoft Office Suite and Email.

To the extent this position requires the holder to research, work on, or have access to critical infrastructure as defined in Section 117.001(2) of the Texas Business and Commerce Code, the ability to maintain the security or integrity of the critical infrastructure is a minimum qualification to be hired and to continue to be employed in the position.

  • Assist with the daily operations of JSOM buildings, classrooms, meeting spaces, and common areas to ensure spaces are organized, functional, and ready for use.
  • Coordinate event, meeting, and classroom setups, including furniture arrangements, equipment placement, and setup/breakdown activities.
  • Monitor building conditions and report maintenance, custodial, safety, and facility-related issues to appropriate service providers.
  • Coordinate building requests, event support, maintenance needs, and scheduling through university communication systems.
  • Move and arrange furniture, equipment, and supplies to support departmental operations and special events.
  • Maintain storage areas, equipment, and building supplies, and assist with inventory and building-related projects.
  • Provide professional customer service to faculty, staff, students, visitors, vendors, and university departments while performing other duties as assigned.

  • Regularly lift, carry, push, and move furniture, equipment, and materials weighing up to 50 pounds, with occasional lifting of up to 75 pounds.
  • Frequently stand, walk, bend, stoop, reach, and move throughout multiple building locations.
  • Safely operate basic hand tools and equipment used for furniture assembly, adjustments, and general building support.
  • May occasionally work adjusted hours to support university events and operational needs.
