We are hiring a Assistant Controller. The Assistant Controller is responsible for the company's financial reporting, consolidation, and higher-level accounting activities. This role connects the execution of Corporate Accounting activities with the broader controllership responsibilities and ensures underlying accounting records are appropriately reflected in the company's financial statements. The Assistant Controller develops a comprehensive understanding of the company's financial results and is expected to identify unusual activity, challenge accounting conclusions, resolve complex accounting matters, and continuously strengthen financial reporting processes and policies. This role can work remotely anywhere in the US, but must be willing to travel to any of our sites, as needed. Essential Responsibilities: * Own the preparation, review, and integrity of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements. * Own the consolidation process, including intercompany activity, eliminations, foreign entities, and consolidation adjustments. * Provide higher-level oversight of the monthly close and ensure significant accounting and reporting matters are appropriately resolved and challenge results when appropriate. * Own or provide oversight of complex accounting areas, significant estimates, reserves, equity, debt, and non-routine transactions. * Support development and implementation of accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls. * Coordinate financial statement audit activities and serve as a primary accounting resource for external auditors. * Coordinate tax activities and serve as primary resource to external tax team. * Provide accounting guidance and technical development to the Accounting Manager and Corporate Accounting team. * Identify opportunities to improve the accuracy, efficiency, and scalability of financial reporting and close processes, including automation where applicable. * Perform treasury duties, including cash forecasting and liquidity management, banking administration, and required bank compliance reporting. * Oversee corporate insurance policies, processes, and annual renewals, including considering the impact of business changes and risk/insurance needs. * Assist with corporate merger and acquisition activities, including valuation, purchase accounting and integration, as needed. Qualifications: * Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required. * Minimum of 8-12 years of progressive accounting experience, including significant responsibility for financial statement preparation, review, and analysis. * Prior experience overseeing the month-end and year-end close processes and general ledger activities. * Experience with multi-entity consolidation, intercompany accounting, and foreign currency translation strongly preferred. * Demonstrated knowledge of U.S. GAAP and experience researching and applying accounting guidance to complex transactions. * CPA strongly preferred. * Public accounting experience and/or experience within a global, multi-entity organization preferred. * Experience supporting mergers and acquisitions, including financial due diligence, purchase accounting, integration activities, and post-acquisition financial reporting, preferred.
* Demonstrated leadership ability with experience developing accounting professionals, setting expectations, and driving accountability across the accounting function. * Strong financial acumen with the ability to understand, analyze, and challenge financial statements and identify accounting, reporting, and business risks. * Advanced knowledge of U.S. GAAP with the ability to research, interpret, and apply accounting guidance to complex or non-routine transactions. * Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to independently identify issues, evaluate alternatives, and recommend appropriate solutions. * Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to clearly communicate accounting matters and financial results to both financial and non-financial stakeholders. * Strong organizational and project management skills with the ability to manage competing priorities, deadlines, and cross-functional initiatives. * Demonstrated ability to improve accounting processes, strengthen internal controls, and drive consistency and efficiency across the organization. * Ability to operate with a high degree of ownership and sound professional judgment while appropriately escalating significant accounting, control, or business matters. * Strong proficiency with general ledger and ERP systems and Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel. * Ability to work effectively in a multi-entity and cross-functional environment and collaborate with Finance, Operations, external auditors, banking partners, and other business stakeholders. Estimated starting annual base salary pay ranges is $130,000 - 150,000.00 less applicable withholdings and deductions, paid on a bi-weekly basis. The target base compensation for this role is in the low to middle of the range, with the top of the range reserved for only exceptional circumstances.
