About the Role:

The Senior Specialist, Data Analysis and Visualization plays a critical role in advancing the Clearinghouse's ability to unlock and deliver value from data. This role is responsible for leading data analysis and visualization efforts, developing dashboards and insights that support internal decision making, product innovation, and customer-facing solutions.

The incumbent brings a strong understanding of Clearinghouse data assets and diverse data domains, applying analytical and visualization techniques to translate data into actionable insights. This role partners with teams across the Clearinghouse to identify opportunities, develop prototypes, and mature data-driven capabilities.

This position contributes to the full lifecycle of data initiatives, from exploratory analysis and dashboard development to supporting data science efforts and advancing prototypes through their lifecycles. The incumbent uses creative and innovative approaches to analysis, design, documentation, and tool selection.

Currently, this is a remote-first position, and this position may be required to periodically work on-site at our office and the frequency would depend on the department/division's requirements. Therefore, candidates must either reside within a reasonable distance to commute to our office or be willing to travel to our office in Herndon, when required.


How You Contribute:

  • Develop, maintain, and demonstrate a strong working knowledge of the Clearinghouse, its environment, including its mission, services, and key stakeholders and how each organizational unit contributes to that mission.
  • Develop and maintain a strong understanding of Clearinghouse data assets, data structures, and business context across multiple domains.
  • Serve as a lead for data visualization and dashboard development, creating intuitive and impactful visual products for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Conduct exploratory and diagnostic data analysis to identify insights, trends, and opportunities for new or enhanced data capabilities.
  • Partner with Product, Research, and other stakeholders to translate business needs into analytical approaches, dashboards, and data products.
  • Support data science and advanced analytics initiatives by preparing data, performing analysis, and contributing to model interpretation and communication.
  • Contribute to the prototype developing process, iterating on analytical solutions, and helping transition successful concepts into scalable capabilities.
  • Investigate and integrate Clearinghouse, public, and emerging data sources to expand analytical use cases and insights.
  • Present findings and visualizations to stakeholders to inform decisions, drive innovation, and support product and organizational objectives.
  • Define and promote best practices in data analysis and visualization, including standards for dashboard design, data storytelling, and stakeholder engagement.
  • Prioritize the protection of sensitive data by ensuring compliance with security and data governance policies and upholding privacy standards.
  • Connect analytical work to organizational priorities, ensuring alignment with strategic goals and measurable outcomes.
  • Develop and foster a partnership relationship with a diverse group of stakeholders at all levels of the organization.

What You Bring to the Table:

  • Bachelors degree in statistics, data analysis, business, information technology, or any other general related field. A combination of education and experience including military service will also be considered.
  • 5 years of progressive experience in data analysis, reporting, and/or analytics.
  • Experience:

    • Analyzing data to generate insights and support decision making.
    • Designing and developing dashboards and data visualizations.
    • Working with complex datasets across multiple domains.
    • Supporting or collaborating on advanced analytics or data science initiatives.
    • Translating business needs into analytical solutions and outputs.


  • Proficiency in utilizing Microsoft Office Suite and other collaboration tools.
  • Strong proficiency in data analysis and visualization tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau, Looker, Python/R, SQL, etc.).
  • Ability to design clear, effective dashboards and communicate insights through data storytelling.
  • Ability to work across data domains and quickly develop context in new subject areas.
  • Experience supporting prototyping, iterative development, or data product development processes.
  • Ability to define and document business requirements and analytical approaches.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills with the ability to translate complex data into understandable insights for various audiences.
  • Ability to collaborate across technical and non-technical stakeholders.

  • Must be at least 18 years old.


Additional Desired:

  • Degree in a relevant field (e.g., data science, analytics, economics, statistics, or related discipline)
  • Familiarity with data science concepts and methods (e.g., predictive modeling, machine learning)
  • Familiarity with Learner, Education, and/or Workforce Data
  • Experience working in environments that blend research, product development, and analytics

Physical Demands:

  • Use of a computer for 8 or more hours a day.

We offer comprehensive medical, dental, and vision insurance, as well as life and disability insurance benefits, for employees and their qualified dependents. Health care, dependent care, and limited purpose flexible spending accounts, as well as a health savings account with annual employer contributions of $300 for employees and $600 for employees who are enrolled with their spouse and/or dependents, voluntary supplemental health plans for Accident and Hospital Indemnity coverage, and infertility coverage are options available for employees to set aside pre-taxed dollars for certain qualifying expenses. We offer a very generous 401k matching contribution program with the opportunity to defer pre-tax and Roth contributions, as well as catch-up contributions for those who are eligible! We are proud to offer a competitive paid leave program consisting of vacation, sick, and personal time, as well as paid holidays, up to 3 weeks of paid parental leave during a 12-month period , and up to 5 days of paid military leave per calendar year . Vacation time will accrue based on length of service, and new full-time hires can accrue up to 13 days of vacation and up to 10 days of sick time per year. On an annual basis, new employees may use up to 32 hours of accrued sick time as personal time. Additionally, the Clearinghouse observes at least 15 paid holidays per year, including company year-end close between Christmas and New Years Holidays.

Additionally, we reasonably believe that the salary range for this position is between $98,880 and $125,000.
