SUMMARY:

Supports the Commercial Loan Officer & Operations Manager in the administration and oversight of Commercial Lending operations, with responsibility for coordinating compliance, audit and examination activities, operational processes, systems support, and process improvement initiatives. Serves as a liaison with Compliance, Audit, Loan Review, examiners, and internal business partners and assists with implementation and follow-up of required actions. Provides oversight of the Commercial Loan Specialist function through the Commercial Loan Specialist Supervisor and supports staffing, training, performance management, procedures, and operational effectiveness.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS & RESPONSIBILITIES:

Commercial Lending Operations & Process Support



  1. Assists the Commercial Loan Officer & Operations Manager with Commercial Lending operational initiatives, process alignment, and strategic projects. Coordinates assigned workstreams and partners across functions to implement approved improvements to workflows, controls, systems, efficiency, and service delivery.
  2. Participates on Bank committees and working groups as assigned, including Operations, Fair Lending, Reg O, Demand Management, Risk, Audit and Compliance, and Loan Committee.
  3. Coordinates operational tools and systems supporting the Commercial Loan Specialist function, including LaserPro; monitors updates and releases and works with system administrators and users to support effective use of the platform. Loan Operations Servicing representative for alignment projects with sister Mutual Bancorp banks.


Compliance, Audit & Operational Risk



  1. Point person with the Bank Compliance Department on all required reporting and important compliance matters
  2. Coordinates Commercial Lending responses to Compliance, Loan Review, internal and external audits, and regulatory examinations, including information requests, documentation, meetings, and follow-up items.
  3. Drafts responses to audit, review, and examination findings for Chief Lending Officer and management review and coordinates implementation and tracking of approved corrective actions, procedure updates, training, and process changes.
  4. Maintains current knowledge of commercial lending regulatory requirements, Bank policies, procedures, and industry developments and assists with keeping procedures and related training current.


Commercial Loan Specialist Team Oversight



  1. Provides oversight and support for the Commercial Loan Specialist function through the Commercial Loan Specialist Supervisor, helping establish priorities, service expectations, staffing needs, and consistent operating practices.
  2. Partners with the Commercial Loan Officer & Operations Manager and the Supervisor on hiring, coaching, performance management, annual reviews, training, and employee development.
  3. Assists with maintaining Commercial Loan Specialist job descriptions, procedures, training resources, systems, and tools to support business and regulatory requirements.


Team Collaboration & Business Support



  1. Partners with lenders, Commercial Lending leadership, and other Bank departments to support effective operations, customer service, client acquisition and business objectives.
  2. Provides guidance and support to employees and promotes collaboration and knowledge sharing across the Commercial Lending team.
  3. Loan Operations Servicing representative for alignment projects with sister Mutual Bancorp banks.
  4. Exercises designated Bank authority, including signing treasurer's checks, approving wire transfers, and endorsing legal documents, within established authorization limits and procedures.
  5. Maintains familiarity with applicable credit-enhancement and community lending programs, including SBA, USDA, Mass Capital Access, and FHLB programs, to support Commercial Lending needs as appropriate.


QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION & CERTIFICATIONS:



  • Bachelor's degree in business, accounting and/or finance or its equivalent
  • M.B.A. a plus


KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:



  • Specialized training in commercial lending, credit, compliance, or related subjects
  • Minimum five years of progressively responsible commercial lending operations and or commercial credit experience
  • Strong knowledge of commercial lending processes, loan documentation, and applicable Federal and State lending laws and regulatory requirements
  • Experience coordinating audits, examinations, operational projects, or process improvements within a financial services environment preferred
  • Strong analytical, organizational, problem-solving, and decision-making skills, with the ability to coordinate work across multiple stakeholders
  • Effective leadership and coaching skills with the ability to work through a front-line supervisor and support employee development and performance management
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills and the ability to handle confidential information professionally


COMPETENCIES:
