This position is expected to start January 2027 and continue through the entire Winter/Spring term (i.e through April/May 2027) or into Summer 2027 ifavailable. We ask for a minimum of12 weeks, full-time (40 hours/week) and on-site, for most internships.Our internship program is for students who are actively enrolled in an academic program.Recent graduates seeking employment after graduation and not returning to school should apply for full-time positions, not internships.

International Students: If your work authorization is through CPT, please consult your school on your ability to work 40 hours per week before applying. You must be able to work40 hoursper week on-site. Many students will be limited to part-timeduring the academic year.

Tesla's Power Systems Modeling team is responsible for dynamic modeling of the Tesla Megapack battery energy storage system (BESS) and its integration with the electric grid. The team develops and validates the RMS and EMT models that represent Megapack behavior in simulation environments used for interconnection and system-impact studies. Tesla is seeking a power systems modeling intern to join the team in developing and validating inverter-based resource models across PSCAD, PSSE, PowerFactory, TSAT, and MATLAB/Simulink.

Location:Palo Alto, CA

• Implementuser-defined models in RMS and EMT platforms including PSCAD, PSSE, PowerFactory, TSAT, and MATLAB/Simulink
• Test, debug, and troubleshoot model implementations to confirm simulated performance matches expected converter and plant-level behavior
• Develop automated testing and validation workflows to evaluate model response and maintain consistency of results across simulation platforms
• Investigate and resolve discrepancies between simulation platforms and between the RMS and EMT domains
• Document model behavior, assumptions, and limitations to support internal review and external study requests

• Currently pursuing a degree in Electrical Engineering, Power Systems, Energy Systems, or a related field
• Strong analytical skills with solid fundamentals in power system analysis and classical control theory
• Experience with modeling and simulation of power systems or inverter-based resources
• Strong debugging and troubleshooting skills applied to simulation models and numerical results
• Scripting and software skills sufficient to implement models and automate test execution in power system analysis tools
• Interest in the dynamic performance and control of inverter-based resources, including grid-following and grid-forming architectures
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, cross-functional team environment and communicate technical results clearly
