Position Summary:

The Sr. Principal Laser Engineer (PLE) is responsible for defining, designing, and developing laser welding, cutting, ablation and marking equipment and processes using lasers within the Cirtec Medical portfolio. The Sr. PLE owns efforts in developing solutions to product design, and design for manufacturability, translating requirements from the customer into realized processes and products. They will manage multiple projects while exceeding customer commitments. Lead the design efforts for programs, independently, acting as a technical lead and mentor to other engineers on these programs.

This position is responsible for providing hands-on training for process development and manufacturing methods to the Laser team, develop process for each production job, set up, and monitor production. Additionally, this role will be hands-on in all areas of developing programs, tooling, fixtures, and parameters for production and provide training to ensure production meets Cirtec's quality and efficiency specifications.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead the development team, laser team.
• Develop innovative laser solutions, investigate, and analyze new processes.
• Develop, log, and maintain process recipes for laser applications.
• Support of engineering development activities, sales support, and customer applications.
• Creative design, development, and testing of laser prototypes, modules and systems including optical layouts, components, and equipment for advanced manufacturing methods.
• Coordinate the installation and final acceptance of the laser system.
• Lead a team of Associate Engineers and Technicians as well as conduct independent research. and development in the field of new laser material processing technologies
• Generate and demonstrate new ideas and approaches in laser processing space and develop them into commercial processes and applications.
• Lead specific customer-oriented projects, resulting in new next generation abilities.
• Conduct numerical analysis of laser technologies; visualize, interpret, and explain the results; communicate the conclusions to the rest of the team; develop experimental methods to verify theoretical results.
• Promote and develop laser processes within the Cirtec portfolio.
• Set up production parameters and insure they are documented and maintained.
• Develop characterizations, IQ's, OQ's, PQs, and validations.
• Develop / execute automated laser processing capabilities.
• Provide trouble shooting to laser processes and equipment.
• Provide process training to improve quality, throughput, and safety.
• Provide Laser samples when appropriate to support sales effort.
• Aids in development of laser quotations, manufacturing procedures.
• Interface with Quality to develop inspection procedures to verify acceptability of components.
• Maintain and promote laser and team safety.
• Research and recommend capital equipment for the yearly budget.

Must Have:

• Bachelor's degree (STEM engineering discipline).
• 15 years of experience required; engineering environment with mechanical, tool design, and manufacturing processes (medical device preferred).
• Experience (expert) with SolidWorks, CAD/CAM, CNC, G-code programming.
• Familiar with modern statistical methods.
• Strong professional communications and problem-solving abilities.
• Professional writing, reading, communication and organizational skills.
• Must maintain high ethical standards.
• Must demonstrate good organizational skills.
• Technical report preparation and good small group presentation skills.
• Must be able to read, write and speak fluent English.

Salary Range: $135,000 - $170,000 annually; depending on qualifications and experience.
