Optimized Process Designs (OPD), a Koch Engineered Solutions company, is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Process Associate to join our team in Katy, TX.

This early-career opportunity is designed for recent graduates interested in developing process engineering experience within the engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) industry. In this role, you will support process engineering activities across the lifecycle of large-scale natural gas, natural gas liquids, and petrochemical facility projects while building foundational knowledge of process design, project execution, and EPC project delivery.

You will collaborate with experienced process engineers, project managers, designers, procurement specialists, and construction professionals to help deliver projects safely, efficiently, and successfully while growing your technical and professional capabilities.

This role is located in Katy, TX. This role is not eligible for VISA sponsorship.

What You Will Do

* Support process engineering activities across multiple EPC projects from scope development through detailed design, construction, and start-up.

* Collaborate with experienced engineers to develop process engineering knowledge and progressively take ownership of assigned calculations and deliverables.

* Assist with process simulations, heat and material balances, equipment sizing, hydraulic calculations, and process design activities.

* Support the development and review of process flow diagrams (PFDs), piping and instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs), equipment datasheets, instrument datasheets, and related engineering documents.

* Review client information, design criteria, specifications, vendor documentation, and project requirements to support engineering deliverables.

* Collaborate with multidisciplinary project teams to support engineering, procurement, and construction activities.

* Participate in technical reviews, process hazard analyses, and project meetings while communicating progress and follow-up actions.

* Support process data management, engineering documentation, and continuous improvement initiatives.

* Develop an understanding of process engineering principles, process safety concepts, and EPC project delivery processes.

* Build strong working relationships across project teams while contributing to a culture of safety, compliance, and operational excellence.

Who You Are (Basic Qualifications)

* Bachelor's or Master's degree in Chemical Engineering or a related engineering discipline completed by May 2027.

* Foundational knowledge of chemical engineering principles, including mass and energy balances, thermodynamics, fluid flow, heat transfer, and process safety.

* Experience performing engineering calculations and documenting assumptions and results clearly within an professional, internship, or classroom setting.

* Eligible to work permanently in the United States for any employer without requiring a visa transfer or sponsorship.

What Will Put You Ahead

* Internship, co-op, research, design project, leadership, or other relevant experience related to chemical processing, oil and gas, petrochemicals, manufacturing, or industrial facilities.

* Exposure to process simulation software such as Aspen HYSYS, UniSim, or similar engineering tools.

* Experience analyzing data and supporting engineering calculations or technical reports.

* Experience using Microsoft Excel, Power BI, Copilot, or other engineering and productivity tools.

* Exposure to process design, process safety, facility design, project execution, or continuous improvement initiatives.
