The Department of Military and Veterans Affairs is searching for a Clerical Assistant 2 who enjoys keeping important operations organized and efficient. In this role, you will support clinical and nursing staff at the Pennsylvania Soldiers' and Sailors' Home by helping manage schedules and completing essential clerical tasks. DESCRIPTION OF WORK

This role supports nursing and clinical services by preparing schedules, managing staffing information, and completing essential clerical tasks.

As a Clerical Assistant 2, you will perform the following duties:

  • Schedule Preparation: Create, adjust, and post nursing schedules using scheduling software
  • Staff Coordination: Review call-off lists and contact available staff or agencies to fill shortages
  • Assignment Support: Assist nursing leaders in assigning or reassigning staff to maintain care levels
  • Record Maintenance: Maintain overtime lists, call-off records, and staffing files
  • Report Creation: Prepare reports on overtime, staffing levels, and scheduling issues
  • Clerical Assistance: Provide general clerical support including typing, filing, and handling calls and visitors

Work Schedule and Additional Information:
  • Full-time employment; 37.5 hours per week.
  • Work hours are 11:00 AM - 7:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
  • Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.
  • Salary: Selected candidates who are new to employment within the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will begin employment at the starting annual salary of $36,831.00 (before taxes).

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • Six months as a Clerical Assistant 1 (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or
  • Graduation from high school; or
  • An equivalent combination of experience and training.

Additional Requirements:
  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience working in a long-term care or large healthcare facility.
  • Experience in clerical duties such as typing, data entry, proofreading, filing, and phone support.
  • Experience working in an office setting as a clerk or personal assistant.
  • Experience working in SAP or SRM entering shopping carts/requisitions.

Legal Requirements:
  • A conditional offer of employment will require a medical examination.
  • This position falls under the provisions of the Older Adult Protective Services Act.
    • Under the Act, a conditional offer of employment will require submission and approval of satisfactory criminal history reports, including but not limited to, PA State Police and FBI clearance.
