Clearance Requirement: Applicants selected will be subject to a government security investigation and may meet eligibility requirements, including U.S. Citizenship, for access to classified information; Ability to obtain and maintain an HSPD-12 clearance required.

The Carpenter is responsible for routine and non-routine carpentry work in and about the facility. The ideal candidate will be proficient in all aspects of carpentry and finishing, with demonstrated experience in drywall, door installation, window treatments, and wall and structural construction. They will report to the Service Manager (SM) or Lead with potential to support new work under the Task Order Manager (TOM). This position is covered by the CBA for Industrial, Technical and Professional Employees Union, OPEIU Local 4873.

Carpentry and Finishing:

• Perform drywall installation, finishing, and repair, including measuring, cutting, and securing panels to frameworks.
• Install, repair, and maintain interior and exterior doors, frames, hardware, and associated trim.
• Construct and assemble structural components inclusive of wood, metal, and other framing materials.
• Install and repair ceiling and drop ceiling structures of variant types and materials appropriately accounting for through pieces and equipment (such as lighting, sprinkler heads, ducting and louvres) with appropriate regard for operating systems.
• Construct and repair platforms and access systems of non-cementous or metallic composition.

Surveying and Estimation:

• Conduct comprehensive site surveys to evaluate project scope, assess existing conditions, and identify potential challenges.
• Develop and present accurate Bills of Materials (BOMs) detailing all necessary components and materials for projects.
• Support the creation of detailed cost estimates for labor, materials, and equipment to inform project planning and budget allocation.

Documentation and Reporting:

• Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and project specifications with precision.
• Ensure all documentation is completed accurately and in strict accordance with security protocols.

Compliance and Security:

• Collaborate with site security personnel, other trades, and management personnel to ensure secure and seamless project execution.
• Adhere strictly to all site-specific and company safety and security protocols.

Tools and Equipment:

• Operate and maintain a variety of hand and power tools safely and effectively.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and secure work area, and properly store all tools and equipment.

• A high school diploma or GED with a minimum of 8+ years of experience working in commercial facilities.
• Ability to read and understand architectural drawings.
• Ability to construct framing partition walls using varying materials, including drywall finishing to a level finish without visible surface imperfections under direct lighting.
• Skill in the use of computers, preferably in a PC, Windows-based operating environment.
• Ability to use hand and power tools applicable to trade.
• Ability to read, understand, follow, and enforce safety procedures.
• Records maintenance skills.

Abilities:

• The position requires the ability to lift, carry, and move objects weighing up to [50 pounds] on a regular basis. Candidates must demonstrate physical strength and stamina to perform various tasks, including but not limited to, loading, and unloading, operating equipment, and assisting in the transportation of various materials. Proper lifting techniques and safety protocols must be followed to ensure personal and team safety.
• Relocates a 12 foot stepladder without assistance.
• Works at various heights up to 60 feet and can climb and maintain balance on scaffolds, aerial lifts, catwalks and all types of ladders.
• Walks, climbs, lifts, squats, crawls, kneels, pushes, pulls and reaches overhead on a routine and repetitive basis.
• Possess good vision (may be corrected vision), the ability to see in color, and the ability to hear and communicate in English.
• May use a standard ladder without exceeding the weight limit while carrying tools.
