Job Summary
The Fabrication Associate performs hands-on pipe fabrication and manufacturing activities in a production environment supporting fire suppression systems. This role involves measuring, cutting, threading, beveling, grooving, welding, assembling, and preparing pipe for shipment while following established safety and operating procedures. The ideal candidate has recent industrial experience, basic fabrication or machine operation knowledge, strong measurement and math skills, and a willingness to learn multiple processes throughout the shop. Candidates currently enrolled in or recently graduated from a welding program may be considered.

Job Responsibilities

• Follow established standard operating procedures for pipe fabrication and shop activities.
• Set up, operate, and perform basic maintenance on fabrication equipment and machinery.
• Measure pipe accurately using a tape measure and basic mathematical calculations.
• Measure and cut pipe using band saws, torches, or other approved equipment.
• Operate pipe threading and beveling machinery according to established procedures.
• Operate grooving machines and other pipe fabrication equipment as trained.
• Assist with welding and operate universal welding equipment as needed and qualified.
• Perform die checks, bundling, assembly, and other pipe preparation activities.
• Move loose and bundled pipe throughout the work area and pipe yard.
• Assemble pipe orders as individual pieces or bundles.
• Maintain tools, materials, and work supplies in an organized condition.
• Inspect fabricated pipe and completed work for accuracy and quality.
• Follow required safety procedures when cutting, fabricating, assembling, stacking, and shipping pipe.
• Perform basic equipment inspections and report maintenance or safety concerns.
• Work collaboratively with team members while also completing assigned tasks independently.
• Train on additional fabrication processes and equipment as needed to support multiple areas of the shop.

Job Requirements

• Minimum 6 months of recent industrial or manufacturing work experience.
• Experience operating industrial machinery, such as saws or other fabrication equipment.
• Basic fabrication knowledge and familiarity with common hand tools and shop equipment.
• Ability to accurately read and use a tape measure.
• Basic math skills and ability to calculate quantities and measurements.
• Ability to work with pipe and sheet metal throughout the workday.
• Ability to lift and handle materials weighing up to 50 pounds.
• Ability to follow written and verbal instructions and established safety procedures.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Strong willingness to learn new equipment and fabrication processes.
• Good oral and written communication skills.
• Welding experience or welding school enrollment preferred.
• Experience operating universal welders, grooving machines, threading equipment, or similar fabrication machinery preferred.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
• OSHA-compliant machine operation and safety practices preferred; training will be provided as needed.

Education

• Current enrollment in or recent graduation from a welding program preferred.

Work Experience

• Minimum 6 months of recent industrial or manufacturing experience required.
• Hands-on machine operation or fabrication experience preferred.
• Welding, pipe fabrication, or related manufacturing experience preferred.
