Product Owner, Mobile Application
Location: Remote - Local to NYC
Schedule/Shift: Remote; travel to New York approximately 1-2 times per month as needed
Pay: $90-$93 per hour
Must be willing to work on a W-2 contract basis and be able to work in the United States without employer sponsorship.

Job Summary
The Product Owner will lead product ownership for a customer-facing mobile application and support a major mobile app modernization initiative. This role will guide the development of a new MVP, establish product priorities and roadmap direction, represent the Voice of the Customer, and support the evaluation of whether to migrate from the existing application to the new platform. The Product Owner will work closely with mobile developers, architects, UX teams, business stakeholders, and external vendors to translate customer and business needs into clear product requirements and priorities. Success in this role requires demonstrated ownership of a customer-facing mobile application, including roadmap and backlog management, mobile releases, and direct collaboration with mobile development teams.

Job Responsibilities



  • Own the product roadmap and backlog for a customer-facing mobile application.
  • Lead product ownership activities for a mobile application refresh and rebuild initiative.
  • Define MVP priorities, product requirements, release plans, and roadmap direction.
  • Prioritize features and enhancements based on customer needs, business objectives, technical considerations, and competing requirements.
  • Represent the Voice of the Customer and translate customer and business needs into actionable product requirements.
  • Support ongoing product ownership for the existing mobile application while guiding development of the new platform.
  • Collaborate directly with mobile developers, architects, UX teams, business stakeholders, and external vendors.
  • Provide product direction throughout the mobile development lifecycle, including releases, enhancements, and application updates.
  • Evaluate mobile architecture, APIs, backend integrations, authentication, security, and related technical considerations.
  • Help assess native and cross-platform mobile development approaches.
  • Support mobile modernization, migration, and platform transition activities.
  • Contribute to launch planning, MVP delivery, migration planning, and go/no-go evaluations.
  • Communicate product priorities, decisions, risks, dependencies, and progress to stakeholders.
  • Step into an existing mobile product environment and provide immediate product leadership.


Job Requirements



  • Direct Product Owner experience with a customer-facing mobile application is required.
  • Experience owning mobile application roadmaps, backlogs, feature prioritization, and releases.
  • Experience working directly with mobile development teams.
  • Customer-facing iOS and/or Android product experience required.
  • Understanding of native and cross-platform mobile development approaches.
  • Strong understanding of mobile application architecture, APIs, backend integrations, authentication, and security.
  • Experience managing mobile application releases, enhancements, and lifecycle activities.
  • Strong Voice of the Customer experience, with the ability to translate customer and business needs into product requirements.
  • Experience collaborating with mobile developers, architects, UX teams, business stakeholders, and external vendors.
  • Strong product prioritization, communication, stakeholder management, and decision-making skills.
  • React and/or React Native experience preferred.
  • Cross-platform mobile development experience preferred.
  • Experience with mobile modernization, application rebuilds, migrations, or platform transitions preferred.
  • Experience supporting MVP development, launch, or go/no-go decisions preferred.
  • Must be willing to work on a W-2 contract basis and be able to work in the United States without employer sponsorship.
