NYC Health + Hospitals/Harlem's 44-bed Inpatient Psychiatric Unit provides acute care and stabilization for adults with serious mental illness in a diverse, underserved community. The multidisciplinary team consists of Psychiatrists, Social Workers, Nurses, and other behavioral health specialists delivering high-quality care in an academic safety-net setting.

Opportunity Details:

• The Director of Inpatient Psychiatry provides clinical leadership for the 44-bed adult inpatient psychiatric service and maintains an active clinical practice as an Inpatient Psychiatrist.
• Works closely with the Chief of Psychiatry, nursing leadership, and the multidisciplinary team to ensure high-quality, safe, efficient, and patient-centered care.
• Provides direct care to an assigned penel of inpatients while providing day-to-day clinical oversight and leadership of the inpatient service.
• Coordinates with CPEP, medical services, outpatient programs, and community providers to facilitate admissions, consultations, and safe transitions of care.
• Teaches and supervises psychiatry residents, medical students, and other trainees as applicable.
• Reviews significant clinical events, patient safety concerns, and challenging cases, and leads or participates in case review and quality-improvement activities.
• Monitors and improves key inpatient quality and safety measures, including length of stay, readmissions, seclusion and restraint, suicide and violence risk assessment, and transitions of care.

• Board Certified in Psychiatry.
• Active New York State Medical License.
• At least 2-3 years of experience.

Wages and Benefits include:

Annual Base Salary: $303,000* based on 40-hour work week.

The annual total value of the compensation package is estimated at $373,300**, which includes the baseline salary, 401(k) contribution, and other factors as set forth below:

• Projected bonus of up to $40,000 (based on previous year's average), contingent upon meeting quality and productivity targets.
• 401(k) Company Contribution (subject to IRS contribution limits):
  • Employees are immediately vested in a 3% company contribution of base earnings. No employee match is required.
  • After one year of service, employees receive an additional 7% company contribution of base earnings. No employee match is required.
