Department:ICE \| MUSL NWA TRM Department's Website: Summary of Job Duties:Join Team UAMS as an Athletic Trainer in this exciting opportunity to enhance on-site athletic care for NWACC student-athletes. Take a leading role in maintaining athlete health, activity, and readiness for competition. As the primary liaison for NWACC Athletics, you'll expertly assess injuries, coordinate care plans with UAMS physicians, and make informed return-to-play decisions with privacy and protocols top of mind. This embedded position not only collaborates closely with NWACC leadership but is also strategically aligned with UAMS physicians to increase physician access, visibility, and involvement at NWACC. By working hand in hand with UAMS physicians, you will support comprehensive athlete care while maintaining strong collaboration with NWACC athletics. The role upholds UAMS clinical standards, ensuring smooth scheduling, coverage, and care coordination across regional collegiate programs. We are seeking a proactive and communicative athletic trainer with a proven track record of providing collegiate-level care. The ideal candidate will collaborate effectively across multidisciplinary teams, including UAMS physicians, and possess the ability to manage complex return-to-play decisions efficiently. Qualifications: Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in athletic training, Kinesiology, or a closely related field required Current certification through the Board of Certification for Athletic Trainers (BOC) Current CPR/AED certification At least one (1) year of athletic training Prior experience providing athletic training services in a collegiate or scholastic setting Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities: Experience coordinating care between an athletics program and outpatient orthopedics/sports medicine providers Familiarity with EMR (EPIC) documentation Working knowledge of injury prevention, evaluation, and emergency response protocols specific to collegiate athletics Ability to communicate effectively across clinical and non-clinical stakeholders, including coaching staff, athletes, and physicians Ability to work independently at a satellite campus location with limited on-site clinical support Strong documentation and time-management skills Ability to respond quickly to on-field/on-court emergencies, including kneeling, bending, and rapid mobility across athletic facilities Ability to lift and carry athletic training equipment and supplies Ability to work outside standard business hours for practices, competitions, and travel as required by the athletic calendar Additional Information: Key Responsibilities: Primary Point of Contact and Coverage Coordination: act as the lead for NWACC coaches and staff on injuries; coordinate on-site coverage across NWACC sports. Injury Evaluation and Treatment: perform clinical injury evaluations, provide first-line treatment within scope, and refer to physicians per UAMS protocols and licensure requirements. Care Coordination with UAMS Orthopedics and Sports Medicine: arrange referrals and schedule coordination for imaging and physician-level care as indicated. Communication of Participation Status and Return-to-Play: relay status, restrictions, and return-to-play decisions to NWACC personnel with privacy compliance. Operational Coordination with NWACC Athletics: liaise with the NWACC Athletic Director on schedules, event coverage, and athlete needs; maintain that medical decisions remain with UAMS. Documentation, Injury Tracking, and Compliance: maintain timely clinical documentation and align injury reporting with NWACC policies; ensure FERPA/HIPAA compliance. Cross-Program Liaison with Project Coordinator: synchronize scheduling, imaging, and prior authorization workflows across UAMS athletics partnerships. Program Development and Reporting: track injury trends and outcomes; report activity to support performance reviews.
