Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital Rahway offers comprehensive outpatient services designed to meet the diverse needs of our community. Our services include wound care and hyperbaric medicine, pulmonary rehab, cardiac rehab, physical, occupational, and speech therapy for adults and children, incontinence treatment, diabetes management, weight-loss programs for adults and children, neuropathy treatment, balance testing, and sleep center services. Additionally, our campus features partnering facilities such as Kindred Hospital New Jersey for long-term acute care and Care Connection, a subacute hospital managed by Alaris Health, dedicated to rehabilitating patients before discharge. We provide acute care, long-term acute and rehabilitative care, and outpatient services to ensure patients and their families receive comprehensive support for their recovery journey. We actively engage our local community through education programs to promote better health decisions and overall well-being.

Qualifications Required:

• Minimum Bachelor's Degree in Nursing, Public Health, or related field required, or equivalent experience; Master's degree preferred
• Certification in Infection Prevention CIC required
• 5 to 10 years of clinical experience in an acute care facility, and/or two years of experience in Infection Control
• Supervisory experience desirable
• Knowledgeable of OSHA, APIC and CDC regulations and guidelines,
• Must be knowledgeable of infection prevention and control principles, practices, and procedures as evidenced by certification,

Essential Functions

• The Infection Prevention Director is administratively responsible for the infection prevention program. The IP Director ensures that the infection prevention plan of the hospital is in compliance with all applicable policies, laws and regulations. The IP Director coordinates, under the direction of the Chief Quality Officer and Administrative Director, the hospitals' infection prevention program.
• Coordinates hospital-wide infection prevention activities related to the strategic initiatives and departmental goals
• Coordinates the functions of the infection prevention committee, including the annual risk assessment, development of the annual infection prevention plan and annual appraisal.
• Ensures the Infection Prevention staff are trained in hospital epidemiology principles and responsible for the surveillance, analysis, and reporting of nosocomial infections.
• Coordinates the development of policies and procedures to ensure rigorous infection control standards that meet the Joint Commission, OSHA, New Jersey Department of Health, and Center for Disease Control requirements.
• Coordinates ongoing activities related to the publicly reported CDC National healthcare Safety Network and assists in the implementation of performance improvement initiatives to improve patient care.
• Provides ongoing formal hospital-wide education regarding infection prevention practices and issues.
• Collaborate with Employee Health and all hospital departments regarding exposure to communicable diseases and coordinates the reporting to regulatory agencies for patients and employees as required.
• Collaborates with Employee Health to develop an annual influenza immunization campaign.
• Prepares and approves the department budget for the Infection Prevention Department.
• Responsible for the IP team function
• Maintains positive employee relations within the hospital as observed from employee comments, informal observations, and complaint resolution.
• Demonstrates the ability to respond positively to changing circumstances, actively, decisively, and take effective actions.
• Coaches, mentors and provide continuing education and support to staff to facilitate professional growth.
• Pursues ongoing professional growth and development
