[Contingent] Senior Security Task Specialist

Overview

We are seeking an experienced Security Task Lead to lead a team of security professionals delivering personnel, physical, industrial, information, and SCIF security operations for a national security organization.

You will provide overall management and oversight of the security team, hold the authority to make decisions and commit the company on security matters, drive quality and efficiency, and proactively alert the customer to programmatic and resource issues.

What You'll Do

• Security Team Leadership: Manage, direct, and oversee all security personnel, including subcontractors; track and document requirements and activities for continuous customer monitoring and evaluation.
• Personnel Security: Oversee the full clearance lifecycle, including SF-86 assistance and review, submission to the national background investigation system within 48 hours, and data-entry audits and reporting.
• Security Training & Awareness: Coordinate security awareness training and new-employee security briefings, and track completion rates.
• Physical Security: Develop the physical security inspection checklist, conduct weekly inspections, report critical deficiencies immediately, and issue inspection reports within three business days.
• Access Control & Monitoring: Administer the access control system and badging, conduct weekly audits, oversee camera and alarm monitoring during a 6:00 AM - 6:00 PM coverage window, manage incident reporting, and maintain visitor control procedures.
• SCIF Operations: Oversee SCIF access control and logs, monthly SCIF inspections, quarterly access-control audits, and briefing and escort of uncleared personnel.
• Security Programs: Oversee reviews of industrial, information/document control, personnel, OPSEC, and CUI security programs, with discrepancies reported within four hours and corrective actions tracked to completion.
• Assessments & Compliance: Lead monthly security vulnerability assessments and scheduled compliance inspections, develop corrective action plans, and prepare the organization for external inspections with a goal of 'Commendable' or higher.
• Continuity of Operations: Support development, exercising, and maintenance of the Continuity of Operations Plan, including relocation procedures and backup communications.
• Records & Continuous Improvement: Maintain audit-ready security records and documentation, and reduce security incidents through proactive vulnerability remediation.

Who You Are (Required Qualifications)

• Security Certification: Security Fundamentals Professional Certification (SFPC).
• Security Program Management: Three or more years of experience within the last ten years managing a security program of similar size and complexity (multi-discipline security team supporting a large, cleared workforce and SCIF environment).
• Security Disciplines: Working knowledge of personnel, physical, industrial, information, OPSEC/CUI, and SCIF security requirements.
• Leader & Communicator: Able to lead a team, brief senior leaders, and make sound decisions under pressure.

Preferred Skills

• Additional security professional certifications (e.g., SAPPC, ISP, CPP).
• Experience with personnel security clearance systems of record and access control/badging systems.
• Knowledge of SCIF construction and accreditation standards.
• Experience preparing organizations for external security inspections and audits.

Required Education + Experience

• Education: Bachelor's degree preferred (additional relevant experience may be considered in lieu of degree).
• Experience: 8+ years of security experience, including 3+ years (within the last 10) managing a security program.
• Certification: SFPC required.
• Clearance: Top Secret (TS) clearance with SCI eligibility.

GENERAL PROGRAM REQUIREMENTS:

• Citizenship: Must be a U.S. Citizen.
• Work Hours: Full-time, Monday through Friday, core business hours of 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM ET (40 hours/week). Security coverage spans 6:00 AM - 6:00 PM ET; schedule will be coordinated with the customer.
• Work Location: On-site at the customer facility in Central Maryland. Telework is situational and must be pre-approved by the customer.
• Travel: Occasional local and CONUS travel may be required to support meetings, events, and engagements.
