The UMKC School of Dentistry Section of Oral and Maxillofacial seeks to fill the position of Assistant/Associate Clinical Professor or Assistant/Associate Professor within the Oral Pathology, Radiology and Medicine Department. Position will be a ranked non-tenure track clinical faculty member or tenured/tenure-track faculty member commensurate with applicant qualifications.

The successful candidate will provide didactic and clinical instruction in oral and maxillofacial radiology for predoctoral dental (DDS) students and dental hygiene students. Responsibilities include teaching principles of radiology, radiographic interpretation, and supervising students in clinical settings to provide technique assessment, consultative services, and to ensure patient safety and compliance with accreditation standards. Additionally, this position provides graduate level didactic instruction for advanced education residency programs.

Opportunities for faculty practice participation (up to one day per week) may be available, consistent with School policy.

Required Qualifications

DDS or DMD degree, or a foreign equivalent professional dental degree

• Completion of a CODA-accredited postgraduate training program in Oral and Maxillofacial Radiology (minimum 24 months in the U.S.)
• Eligibility for licensure in the State of Missouri, including successful completion of required clinical licensure examinations

Preferred Qualifications

• Prior teaching experience in predoctoral dental and/or dental hygiene programs

To be eligible for a tenure-eligible faculty position, applicants must present:

• an active research schema and demonstrated success or potential for success in obtaining external funding as a Principal Investigator or Co-Investigator
• prior experience or demonstrated ability to teach didactic and clinical courses in an advanced dental education program, and
• evidence of service to and/or participation in organizations which work to advance dental education and research

Rank and salary are commensurate with qualifications, experience and evidence of success in externally funded research. This is a 12-month, benefit-eligible, full-time (1.0) faculty appointment eligible for ranked promotion. Our academic schedules and workload provide for a positive work/life balance.
