Maritime Training Specialist

Harkcon, Inc. is a Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Small Business supporting federal missions.

We are seeking a Maritme Professional to review foundational and deck-related training courses. This role suits a mariner who can translate operational experience into careful curriculum review and practical written feedback.

Location: This position is remote within the United States.

Key Responsibilities

• Review maritime course curricula, assessments, instructor qualifications, and training-site information.
• Assess instruction in subjects such as navigation, vessel operations, maritime safety, and emergency response.
• Compare course submissions with applicable requirements and document deficiencies or needed clarification.
• Draft technical recommendations, incorporate review comments, and maintain accurate evaluation records.

Required Qualifications

• Hold or have held a U.S. Coast Guard-issued Merchant Mariner Credential endorsed as Master of Self-Propelled Vessels of at least 100 Gross Registered Tons upon Great Lakes and Inland Waters, or superior routes.
• Ability to interpret maritime training requirements and assess instructional materials for completeness and consistency.
• Strong written communication, document review, and workload management skills.
• Availability for an initial two-week onsite orientation in West Virginia and additional onsite training as required.
• Ability to coordinate during Eastern Time business hours and work effectively from a remote location.
• Ability to meet applicable customer screening, facility access, information protection, and system access requirements.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience developing or delivering maritime training, reviewing course materials, or assessing mariner competency.
• Familiarity with safety training, navigation instruction, or training quality assurance.
