DESCRIPTION

The Cross-Cultural Center's Facilities, Operations, and Events Coordinator serves as the primary operations, facilities, programs, events, administrative, and communications coordinator for a large-scale, multipurpose 6,600 square foot campus community space that supports an average of 12-15 daily activities, including conferences, classes, meetings, symposia, workshops, and special events. The Coordinator is responsible for coordinating the day-to-day operations of the Cross-Cultural Center, a high-volume multicultural and social justice center serving approximately 50-400 visitors daily.

Responsibilities include coordinating the Center's reservation system, facility usage across six programmable spaces and shared areas, front desk operations, operational procedures, information and referral services, and compliance with campus policies, safety protocols, and financial procedures. The Coordinator serves as a primary resource for administrative and fiscal coordination, including payroll/personnel and timekeeping support, travel administration, purchasing, transaction preparation, and operational documentation. The position serves as a liaison with campus partners including Facilities Management, Information Technology, Marketplace, ACT, CMS, EVC Business Office, and Vice Chancellor for Organizational Transformation (OT) Office to coordinate infrastructure, communication, and programmatic needs.

The Coordinator supports the planning, implementation, and assessment of Cross-Cultural Center programs, services, communications, and student engagement initiatives. The position supports recruitment, training, and provides day-to-day direction to student employees, volunteers, and interns; coordinates volunteer programs and internship placements; supports affiliate student organizations; and assists with program development, event logistics, setup, breakdown, and special projects. The Coordinator supports signature Center initiatives including Triton Welcome Week, Triton Days, affiliate organization programming, gallery programming, and community-building efforts that advance the Center's mission and PLACES philosophy. The position coordinates the Cross-Cultural Center gallery space, including art procurement, insurance coordination, campus compliance requirements, community outreach, installations, inventory, and related programming.

The Coordinator supports the development and implementation of Cross-Cultural Center communication and outreach efforts, including website updates, electronic newsletters, social media platforms, branding standards, marketing materials, listservs, and digital communications. The position collects, compiles, and analyzes operational, programmatic, and engagement data to support assessment, reporting, and development of the Center's annual report. The Coordinator coordinates implementation of the Cross-Cultural Center safety plan and collaborates with campus partners to support compliance with university policies and procedures. The position interacts with students, staff, faculty, and community members on behalf of the Cross-Cultural Center and contributes to an inclusive environment that supports social justice education, community engagement, and student success.

QUALIFICATIONS
  • Demonstrated ability to interact effectively with staff and faculty who are members of historically under-represented groups to facilitate the academic, professional and personal development of students and staff.

  • Experience in providing day-to-day work direction to students; ability to oversee and direct the work of multiple student employees.

  • Proven experience with successful event planning and organization of special events, including familiarity with general accepted practices of the industry. Proven skills to handle logistics of a wide variety of special events including meetings, staff appreciation socials, lectures, seminars, and workshops.

  • Demonstrated ability to make decisions independently, and to anticipate the needs of a student resource center/service unit.

  • Experience with project management and demonstrated experience working on projects from conceptualization to completion.

  • Strong demonstrated organization skills, ability to prioritize job functions to meet deadlines and ensure smooth workflow, and to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.

  • Demonstrated advanced skills with a wide range of computer software, including calendar, spreadsheet, word processing and database applications.

  • Demonstrated ability to serve in a customer service capacity, both on the telephone, in person, and using electronic communication systems, exercising tact and diplomacy with emphasis on flexibility and professionalism.

  • General experience and knowledge of program evaluation and statistical analysis to draft evaluation reports.

  • Strong originality and creativity to anticipate and plan for new or changing workloads, to recommend new administrative approaches to support organizational objectives, to suggest or carry out special projects, and to resolve problems.

SPECIAL CONDITIONS
  • Must have flexible hours and be available nights and weekends. Occasional evenings and weekends may be required.

  • Duties may require direct contact and/or supervision of children (defined as individuals under the age of 18); completion of the Child Abuse and Neglect Reporting Act (CANRA) form will be required.

Pay Transparency Act

Annual Full Pay Range: $64,498 - $92,436 (will be prorated if the appointment percentage is less than 100%)

Hourly Equivalent: $30.89 - $44.27

Factors in determining the appropriate compensation for a role include experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. The Hiring Pay Scale referenced in the job posting is the budgeted salary or hourly range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position. The Annual Full Pay Range may be broader than what the University anticipates to pay for this position, based on internal equity, budget, and collective bargaining agreements (when applicable).
