Overview

The Regulatory Operations Consultant (ROC) supports the Bank's first-line risk management program by identifying, assessing, monitoring, and helping mitigate operational and regulatory risks across the physical banking-center network and other frontline business units. The role performs onsite control assessments and transaction quality assurance reviews, evaluates adherence to policies and procedures, documents and communicates results, monitors corrective actions, provides operational guidance and coaching, and supports timely escalation and reporting of risk events and control deficiencies. The ROC exercises independent judgment within assigned authority and contributes to a consistent, risk-aware, and client-focused control environment.

What You'll Do:

Conduct unannounced onsite banking-center assessments and monthly transaction quality assurance reviews in accordance with approved procedures, checklists, schedules, and sampling requirements.
  • Evaluate the execution of operational controls, review supporting documentation and operational logs, and assess staff knowledge of applicable policies, procedures, regulatory requirements, security protocols, and escalation expectations.
  • Identify and document control deficiencies, policy deviations, operational losses, near-miss events, and emerging risk trends, including root causes, responsible parties, required corrective actions, and target completion dates.
  • Analyze recurring findings and process gaps and recommend opportunities to strengthen controls, procedures, training, documentation, and management reporting.
  • Monitor corrective actions, evaluate remediation evidence, maintain the designated tracking repository, and escalate overdue, unresolved, or inadequate remediation to First Line Risk Management leadership and appropriate business management.
  • Maintain complete and accurate assessment and testing documentation, including sampling registers, workpapers, supporting evidence, findings, conclusions, and review results.
  • Communicate assessment and review results to banking-center personnel, business management, and other relevant stakeholders, and provide risk-based coaching or procedural guidance when gaps are identified.
  • Prepare accurate and timely management reporting on banking-center assessments, transaction reviews, operational losses, recurring findings, emerging trends, and outstanding corrective actions.
  • Provide assessment results and supporting information for line-of-business risk and compliance forums and enterprise risk reporting.
  • Serve as a liaison among frontline business units, Operational Risk Management, Compliance, BSA/AML/OFAC, Fraud, and other support functions to facilitate risk-event reporting, issue resolution, and improvements to control execution.
  • Provide operational support and risk-based coaching to banking-center personnel and other frontline business units, including targeted or refresher guidance on new or revised policies, procedures, controls, and regulatory requirements.
  • Promote a risk-aware culture by encouraging the proactive identification, reporting, escalation, and remediation of operational and regulatory risks.
  • Participate in special projects, process changes, control enhancements, and other assignments as directed.

Qualifications

  • 5-7 year of experience in Retail Banking.
  • Working knowledge of bank operations.
  • Excellent organizational, analytical, coaching, time management and communication skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a cross-functional team environment to solve challenging issues and identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Excellent follow-up skills including attention to detail with a customer service attitude.

Education

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration or related field preferred.
  • An equivalent combination of education and relevant professional experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
