Summary:

The Chief Operating Officer (COO) provides leadership and oversight of operations for CHRISTUS Children's. The COO is responsible for promoting the CHRISTUS Health mission, core values and vision through effective operational processes. This leader is responsible for ensuring quality of care, service excellence, and community benefit and business literacy according to the CHRISTUS Health strategy. The COO is responsible for positive relationships and effective communications with executive colleagues, leaders, Associates, medical staff, sisters, and community representatives. The COO develops plans to implement care and services based on community needs and consistent with CHRISTUS Health's strategic plan. The COO supports the CEO and fulfills the leadership role in the CEO's absence.

Education:


  • Master's degree in healthcare administration, Business Administration, or other advanced health- or business-related degree.

Experience:


  • Progressive career experience as a senior operations executive of a healthcare facility with experience that is broad-based.
  • Children's hospital experience is preferred.
  • The ability to interact with physicians and leaders in the business community.
  • Must have strong understanding of and demonstrate skills in leadership, strategic management, change management, communications, leadership development and team building, continuous quality improvement, problem solving, critical thinking, decision-making, innovation, business acumen, and stewardship.
  • Skill in maintaining a balanced perspective on mission effectiveness and business results is critical.

Skills:


  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills to communicate with a variety of individuals including physicians, associates, volunteers, healthcare colleagues, and community leaders.
  • Ability to motivate others.
  • Ability to work in a rapidly changing and stressful environment.
  • Ability to think critically and make independent decisions as necessary.
  • Ability to solve management issues and direct numerous and varied operations.
  • Ability to plan, organize, develop, implement, and interpret the necessary programs, goals, policies, and objectives necessary for providing quality care and maintaining sound operations.
  • Knowledge of hospital and healthcare practices and procedures as well as relevant laws, regulations, and guidelines.

Licensure:


  • Preferred candidates will demonstrate interest and involvement in American College of Healthcare Executives as a member, diplomate, or a fellow.
