Title: Senior Manufacturing Engineer - Electrical Equipment

Company: Global Power Components - www.globalpowercomponents.com

Location: Milwaukee, WI (onsite 5-days/week)

Hire Type: Direct Hire

Overview:

Global Power Components (GPC) is a privately held, rapidly growing manufacturer of large, complex fabricated metal products and integrated equipment for the power generation and electrical industries. Building on GPC's manufacturing scale, engineering capability, and reputation for execution, the Electrical Equipment Solutions business is expanding the company's capabilities into UL 891 switchboards, generator docking stations, camboards, and other engineered electrical assemblies. The business is being built for growth, with a focus on customer responsiveness, scalable manufacturing systems, disciplined execution, and continued investment in people, technology, and automation.

Position Summary:

We are seeking a hands-on Senior Manufacturing Engineer with 5-15 years of experience to build and improve manufacturing operations in a fast-paced engineered-to-order (ETO) environment. This role will lead production support, process optimization, routing accuracy, labor efficiency, and cross-functional execution across Engineering, Operations, Supply Chain, Quality, and IT. The ideal candidate will combine practical manufacturing experience with the ability to establish disciplined processes, strengthen Epicor ERP data, and develop scalable production systems for Electrical Equipment Solutions.

Responsibilities:

  • Design, specify, procure, and implement tooling, fixtures and equipment to ensure repeatable, scalable, and safe production of UL 891 switchboards and other large electrical assemblies.
  • Serve as the primary hands-on resource for troubleshooting tooling, equipment, and process issues, and implement practical corrective actions that minimize downtime and prevent recurrence.
  • Collaborate closely with Industrial Engineers and production staff to implement flexible manufacturing solutions that accommodate low-volume, high-mix Engineered to Order (ETO) production, as well as lower mix Configure to Order (CTO) production.
  • Identify, prioritize, implement, and document continuous improvement, design for manufacture (DFM), and cost-savings opportunities that improve safety, quality, delivery, and cost.
  • Develop and maintain accurate bills of material, labor standards, routings, and work instructions in Epicor ERP, and become the manufacturing subject matter expert for Epicor processes and data.
  • Collaborate closely with IT, Production, and Quality to implement the Manufacturing Execution System (MES), integrate it with shop-floor processes, and maximize its value for production visibility, control, and execution.
  • Translate customer drawings, specifications, and engineered designs into effective manufacturing plans and routings.
  • Optimize manufacturing processes to improve throughput, reduce waste, and increase quality and on-time delivery.
  • Support new product introductions, custom orders, and engineering changes from release through production.
  • Lead capital equipment projects from concept through implementation and stabilization.
  • Mentor junior engineers and promote best practices across the operation.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent relevant experience.
  • 5-15 years of manufacturing engineering experience in a production environment.
  • Hands-on working style with a "let's go see" mentality.
  • Comfortable working on the production floor with urgency and managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced growth environment.
  • Strong ability to read technical drawings, fabrication prints, and customer specifications.
  • Experience creating SOPs, standard work, routings, and scalable manufacturing documentation.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively across office and shop-floor teams.
  • Preferred Qualifications:
  • Hands-on Epicor ERP experience, including routings, bills of material, job methods, costing, production transactions, engineering changes, or process optimization.
  • Experience with electrical equipment assembly, metal fabrication, power systems, or engineered-to-order manufacturing.
  • Working knowledge of Lean manufacturing, Kaizen, root-cause analysis, and continuous improvement tools.
  • CAD experience.
  • CAM, CNC programming, MES, or nesting software experience.

What Success Looks Like:

  • Production issues are resolved quickly, recurring disruptions are reduced, and manufacturing processes consistently support the production schedule.
  • Epicor routings, bills of material, labor standards, and manufacturing data accurately reflect how products are built and support reliable planning, costing, and production execution.
  • Better labor efficiency and production throughput
  • Reduced rework, waste, and schedule delays
  • Stronger coordination between Engineering, Operations, and Supply Chain
  • Manufacturing methods, tooling, documentation, and systems can support higher volume, additional product families, and continued company growth without creating unnecessary complexity.
