The Role:

Positioned as a pivotal member of our executive leadership team in North Puget Sound, the Executive Director Foundation/Ministry Chief Philanthropy Officer is tasked with spearheading all fund development programs within our organization. You'll set strategic goals and methodologies to achieve exceptional levels of philanthropy, ensuring our fundraising endeavors aligning seamlessly with North Puget Sound priorities. As a key partner to our Chief Executive and the Foundation Board of Directors, you'll lead Foundation staff, engage board members, and foster a robust organizational structure to drive philanthropic success.

What You'll Do:



  • Strategic Philanthropy Architect: Design, implement, and evaluate comprehensive fund development programs, embracing corporate and foundation giving, major gifts, annual giving, planned giving, and more.
  • Relationship Builder: Manage a portfolio of significant prospects and donors, cultivating enduring connections with individuals, corporate representatives, and foundation officers to expand the Foundation's philanthropic reach.
  • Mission Advocate: Develop and deliver compelling presentations that champion the Foundation's mission and inspire charitable contributions, representing the institution at professional organizations.
  • Visionary Collaborator: Collaborate with North Puget Sound leadership and Foundation Board to devise strategic plans that align with organizational values, mission, and business priorities.
  • Influence Navigator: Identify internal and external forces impacting fund development priorities, ensuring proactive planning, strategy identification, and benchmarking of best practices .
  • Innovative Fundraiser: Discover new funding sources, broaden donor demographics, and establish creative programs to attract a diverse range of donors, focusing on major gifts and engaging individuals with philanthropic interests.
  • Board Leader: Drive effectiveness within the Foundation Board, strategically recruiting and engaging members to maximize impact and recruit new talent as needed.
  • Philanthropy Strategist: Enhance donor research tools, prospect identification, and tracking systems to identify non-traditional sources of philanthropy and engage younger donors.
  • Community Ambassador: Represent the Foundation at community events, establishing a credible and enthusiastic presence that underscores our commitment to regional healthcare excellence.
  • Team Mentor: Assess and motivate Foundation staff, fostering a high-performance environment and retaining key talent during times of transition.
  • Fiscal Management: Develop and manage fiscal operations of the Foundation, ensuring compliance with accounting and Providence standards.
  • Performance Metrics: Design and implement performance metrics for Foundation staff, maintaining strong financial performance.
  • Physician Collaboration: Cultivate relationships with physician leaders to bolster philanthropic support and establish a grateful patient program.
  • Communications Partnership: Partner with North Puget Sound Marketing/Communications to synchronize the Foundation's communication efforts.
  • Grant Monitoring: Monitor grant availability and oversee the creation of compelling proposals to secure funding.
  • Strategic Alignment: Align Foundation objectives with medical center goals, ensuring cohesive support for strategic initiatives.


What You'll Bring:



  • Educational Background: Bachelor's degree in business administration, communications, healthcare, or equivalent education/experience; Master's degree preferred.
  • Experience: 10+ years of senior-level development experience in non-profit organizations within healthcare, higher education, or similar charity sectors.
  • Certification: Advanced fundraising certification (e.g., AHP Fellow, CFRE) preferred .
  • Communication Skills: Executive presence and exceptional communication skills to relate effectively with executives, donors, and community members.
  • Leadership Qualities: High-energy, accomplished leader with a positive outlook, collaborative spirit, and ability to inspire confidence.
  • Innovative Mindset: Creative and forward-thinking mindset, open to innovative approaches and ideas.
  • Values Alignment: Strong alignment with Catholic healthcare values and unquestioned ethics and integrity.
  • Industry Knowledge: Comprehensive knowledge of the healthcare industry and skilled in financial management, data analysis, and human resources management.
