We are currently looking for a full-time Extrusion Operator to support production at our TC Spartanburg plant. Essential to TC Transcontinental Packaging operations, the Extrusion Operator performs machine set-up for orders, safely operates the machine to production target, waste, and quality standards, and troubleshoots the machine when it is down or not performing to standard. This position requires technical proficiency, adaptability, and a commitment to maintaining safety and quality standards.

When your actions lead to success.

• Set up and operate biaxially oriented film extrusion equipment. The equipment includes but not limited to: resin handling equipment, extrusion and casting equipment, film stretching equipment, winding and slitting equipment material handling equipment, scales, micrometers, tachometers, hand tools, and other related equipment.

• Adjust extrusion parameters (temperature, speed, pressure) for desired product specifications.

• Conduct regular quality checks on extruded film for defects and deviations.

• Make adjustments per standard operating conditions (SOCs) to maintain consistent product quality.

• Monitor material supply, coordinating with handlers for steady production flow.

• Maximize output, minimize waste, and reduce downtime.

• Perform routine equipment maintenance and cleaning for optimal performance.

• Report mechanical issues to lead operator or maintenance.

• Troubleshoot equipment malfunctions, deviations, and defects swiftly.

• Implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence.

• Accurately record production data, including usage, rates, and quality measurements.

• Collaborate with operators, maintenance, engineers and production lead for smooth operations.

• Mentor and train less experienced operators

• Adapts to flexible start-up schedule, transitioning from 8-hour shifts to continuous 12-hour shifts, when required.

• Maintains regular, reliable attendance.

• Support and contribute to a healthy and safe work environment by following all workplace regulations, policies, and initiatives, including reporting all first aid injuries, accidents, and workplace hazards.

• Help recognize safety hazards and contribute to corrective action development and implementation.

• High school Diploma or equivalent education and experience.

• Preferred experience in operating biaxially oriented film extrusion equipment.

• Strong technical understanding of extrusion processes, equipment, and parameters.

• Willingness to cross train and learn all areas of the process.

• Proficient in reading and interpreting technical drawings, specifications, and work orders.

• Detail-oriented with critical thinking and problem-solving abilities.

• Physically capable of manual tasks, lifting, and standing in a production setting.

• Excellent communication skills for effective team interaction and information conveyance.

• Basic computer proficiency for data entry and process monitoring.

• Familiarity with manufacturing safety protocols and procedures.

• Strong reading, writing, and comprehension skills.

• Capable of mathematical calculations and reading tape measures.

• Adequate dexterity, coordination, and ability to lift up to 50 lbs.

• Attentive to extruder operation with frequent mental and visual focus.

• Collaborative team player.
