This position is hybrid in nature requiring at least 2-3 days/week on-site at the 51 Bridge Street eVinci Accelerator facility in Etna, PA, and the other days telecommuting. No relocation will be provided for this position.




Your Day-to-Day:




  • Lead the design development activities for one or more high temperature reactor components or lead significant parts of the design efforts supporting the component lead.
  • Create the plan and lead team members in the development of the components from preliminary through final design. This will include assessing and implementing lessons learned and best practices within the group.
  • Use of analysis tools, such as finite element simulations (ex. Ansys) and closed-form solution calculations to qualify component design.
  • Drive and/or execute component qualifications through ASME BPV code Section III Division 5 (High Temperature Reactors) methodologies.
  • Work with other component, system, and manufacturing leads on the integration of the subsystems and work through emergent design issues.
  • Work with testing organization to develop plans for functional and qualification tested as needed.
  • Work with project managers and subsystem/component leads to develop and maintain project schedules.
  • Lead complex technical projects, coordinating multi-functional teams to accomplish project objectives while meeting established schedule and budget requirements.
  • Identify and define technical issues, risks and challenges, direct efforts to successful resolution.
  • Bring engineering rigor to resolution of problems that are sometimes loosely- or only partially defined, requiring knowledge and experience within given discipline.
  • Mentor less experienced team members.
  • Incorporate the use of industry, regulatory, or NRC/DOE/AMSE codes, standards, and criteria pertinent to nuclear reactors in design activities.
  • Provide technical guidance, direction, and collaborate with other personnel including partners such as national laboratories, sub-contractors, partners, suppliers, fabricators, and customers.
  • Communicate with management on the progress of the design, technical issues, risks and lessons learned during the project.
  • Strong personal accountability for delivery of high-quality engineering products.



Who You Are:

As a successful candidate, you will bring the following to the team:



  • BS in Mechanical Engineering (MS preferred) (alternate degrees such as nuclear, aerospace, structural engineering, or materials science, etc. will be considered with component design experience)
  • Familiarity with advanced reactor technology and designs or design experience with high temperature materials.
  • Knowledge in system and component level design
  • Knowledge and experience with design of components
  • Significant experience in a technical leadership role, working autonomously as an individual contributor or leading a small technical team - with aspects of design, analysis and manufacturing.
  • Strong computer skills, proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Strong verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills
  • Strong teamwork skills
  • Ability to coordinate and prioritize multiple projects and tasks


Minimum of 10 years of experience required or 8 with an advanced degree
