Overall Description of Responsibility or Nature of Work

This position reports directly to Ross Kedl, Professor in the Department of Immunology and Microbiology, and is responsible for performing the research summarized below. This position may supervise the work of graduate students and technicians.

This position is for a PhD post-doctoral researcher with experience in analysis of T cell and antigen presenting cells in mouse models of infection and/or vaccination. The main objective is to understanding the cellular and molecular mechanism by which the cellular immune response can be better mobilized through adjuvanted subunit vaccination to therapeutically intervene in chronic infectious diseases and cancer. The proposed training will be conducted at University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus.

We aim to improve our knowledge of the immune response to cancer, providing an intensive training, and ultimately provide for transition into a successful independent investigator in academia or industry. All of the duties listed below are to achieve this goal in specific categories.

Salary and Benefits:

The salary range (or hiring range) has been established at $53,760-$65,292.

The salary of the finalist(s) selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, internal equity, experience, education, specialty and training.

Qualifications

Minimum requirements:

Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire.



  • All requirements of graduation from an accredited college or university with a Ph.D., M.D, D.V.M., or equivalent doctoral level degree in microbiology, immunology, molecular biology, biochemistry, or a related field before the starting date for this position. Candidates in the final stages of completing their doctoral level degree are eligible to apply.


Preferred qualifications:



  • Participate in the initiation of the research projects
  • Carry out his or her projects independently
  • Develop research protocols
  • Perform experiments as related to research project
  • Trouble-shooting and problem-solving as related to the research project
  • Record results of experiments: Tabulate research data and keep a detailed, easy to understand laboratory notebook
  • Interpret the experimental results
  • Collaboration with PI and others in the lab
  • Conduct literature searches
  • Training of laboratory personnel in experimentation techniques
  • Preparation of tissues, cell cultures, blood samples, etc. for testing
  • Measure and monitor gene expression
  • Perform recombinant DNA work
  • Modify, test, verify and analyze research data
  • Prepare samples for analysis by various instrumentation
  • Develop and maintain research databases
  • Self-motivated, hard-working, and willing to work with flexible hours
  • Other duties as assigned by PI
  • Familiarity with Microsoft office suite of applications, FlowJo and Graphpad Prism.
  • Familiarity with R preferred.
